I'm so struggling to find the words to review this book. It's so great to be back with the gang and seeing all the couples and catch up with the ongoing drama. From the minute I picked the book up I didn't want to put it down.

Ava and Hayes were absolute fire together.  From their first meeting the sparks flew and I was holding my breath for their second meeting and then seeing how it was going to proceed from there. Ava had every reason to be hesitant about getting into a relationship and that was before you took into consideration Hayes’ reputation and her dads likely reaction.

And on the subject of Hayes reputation damn did that boy earn the hype. Then to see him fall so hard for Ava I forgot all about his past and was too busy swooning over him. I had all these theories on the how of things playing out and I wanted to strangle Hayes for his actions. Luckily for him he sorted himself out quickly and went back to being boyfriend goals.

I am dying to get my grabby hands on the next one. I really hope it's Bridger, I have to know who's behind all his drama.

What could be worse than having a one-night stand with my twin’s biggest rival on the ice?

Mine to Take, an all-new One-night stand, Brother’s rival, Opposites attract Hockey romance from USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Sucevic is now available!

What could be worse than having a one-night stand with my twin’s biggest rival on the ice?

Umm…nothing.

Nothing is worse than that.

It’s the reason why my brother can never find out that I hooked up with Maverick McKinnon, ridiculously hot defenseman for the Western Wildcats. It doesn’t matter if the memories from our night together are enough to make my toes curl and my panties—

Well, you get the idea.

He’s the first guy to come along and not treat me like I’ll shatter into a million pieces when he lays his hands on me. Even if there’s a teeny tiny part within that would like to see him again, the fallout would be brutal.

I have enough to deal with. Like trying to break out of the box my family has placed me in since my diagnosis.

The only problem?

I’ve lost something valuable.

Something I need back.

And I’m pretty sure whose bed I’ll find it in.

Keep reading for a look inside Mine to Take!

When I remain still—at a crossroads—he whispers, “Come on, sunshine.  Just a few more steps.”

My gaze flickers from his to the necklace draped around his neck.

I’m so close.

And then I can walk away.

Unscathed.

I can leave Maverick McKinnon where he belongs.

Safely tucked away in my memories.

I force myself to eat up the remaining distance.  Air gets clogged in my lungs as my shaking palms settle on the broad expanse of his chest.  His muscles bunch and tighten, straining beneath the flesh.  All the warring thoughts within my brain go silent as my senses are bombarded by him.

The heat of his skin.

The woodsy scent of his cologne that cocoons me in familiarity.

The steady tempo of his heart beating beneath my fingertips.

The harsh breath that belies the calm expression on his face.

I want to soak in this moment so I don’t forget a single second of it.

When my palms slide toward the necklace, his larger hands settle over them, drawing them upward until they’re tangled around his neck and my body is flush against his.

Our gazes stay fastened.

I couldn’t look away even if I wanted to.

“We shouldn’t do this,” I whisper, trying one last time to stop this from happening.

Even to my own ears, the protest is weak.

“Do you love him?”

“Of course.”  The truthful response is out of my mouth before I can think better of it.

Fury flashes in his eyes as his voice dips, sounding as if it’s been roughed up by sandpaper.  It sends a shiver skittering down my spine.

“I’ve never been one to fuck other dude’s girlfriends.”  Just as relief rushes from my lungs, he tacks on, “But I’m going to make an exception in this case.”

Mine to Take 4 Stars

Jennifer Sucevic knows how to write college sports romance. She's one of those authors that you know going in that you're going to be caught up in a story you won't want to put down. And all her books have characters that are kind of interconnected but not so much that you can't read the books as stand-alones.

I'll be honest, it's been a while since I read the last book in the series so going into this, I couldn't remember who these characters were. Then I started reading and bits and pieces came back to me, and I really loved seeing Maverick’s feelings on his sister and best friend being together.

But even more I loved growling, jealous, possessive Maverick. Reading this in dual point of view gave us awesome insight into what an absolute sweetheart Maverick was. It also gave us a chance to stress out over how Maverick was going to react when all the facts came to light.

Willow had so many secrets. But I could understand how she ended up getting stuck in them. And knowing that she didn't do it maliciously and was more concerned about how Maverick would feel I couldn't fault her for delaying in bringing it all out into the open.

The way it all came out and the way everyone reacted was awesome. It felt realistic and made me like all the characters even more. The epilogue was as sweet and hot as the rest of the book had been. And I'm really looking forward to getting Hayes book next and all the others I'm greatly anticipating coming soon after.

Blurb

Colby McNichols, otherwise known as the baby-faced assassin, is the left wing for the Western Wildcats hockey team. All he has to do is sign his name on the dotted line and he’ll play for the pros after his senior season. What I’ve heard from the girls on campus, who aren’t shy about spilling the tea, is that he’s totally earned his reputation.

And then some.

It’s just one of the reasons I choose to steer clear.

Trust me when I say that my life is complicated enough without getting tangled up with a player.

For reasons I can’t fathom, Colby has decided to insert himself in my life. Everywhere I go, there he is. Which makes holding him at a distance nearly impossible. He might be smoking hot but there’s zero point in starting something with this guy. Especially since I can’t be honest about who I am.

Unfortunately, a weekend spent in Vegas changes everything.

Turns out that our friends weren’t the only ones who tied the knot in Sin City.

I can only hope that what they say is true—what happens in Vegas stays there.

Because if it doesn’t…

I’m screwed.

And not in a good way.

Alright I always feel guilty writing a review for a series I love when it's been a minute between books. My goldfish memory is strong, and I barely remember anything from the previous books. I know that I loved them, which is no surprise since I'm a fan of the authors writing. But I can't really remember the previous couples or their stories or where the current couple fits in the friend group and I want to remember it all so badly. It's like this weird little Deja vu tickle in the back of my mind as certain people or things click.

So I basically read this as a standalone and man did it work perfectly. I was so completely absorbed by Britt and waiting for her past to dumpster fire all over her present. Wanting her to come clean and be all in with Colby and yet not knowing how that would play out. I was on the edge of my seat wondering if this was the moment he would figure it out or if something would happen to bring it all out into the light.

And who would have guessed that Colby would give such awesome book boyfriend vibes? I love watching a reformed player become boyfriend goals, but I didn't expect Colby to be quite so domestic or so quickly committed. I thought he would fight it harder, or I don't even know, just not be so completely gung ho about the whole thing.

I had so many moments where I thought ok this is what's going to happen next. And I would flip the page and watch something else play out. Until the end when it was like watching it play out on the big screen and I felt a little anticlimactic. Then it twisted and turned a little and then we got the adorable epilogue, and I am sad to put it down. I will say that I didn't feel like we got any closure on Bebe and her whole family, but I am happy with how it went so I can forgive that.

EXCERPT

When she steps closer, swallowing up the distance between us, my breath hitches as anticipation leaps to life in my veins before flooding my system.

What the actual f*ck is that about?

My breath has never hitched once in my life.

Not even before stepping onto the ice for a championship game.

I glance at her lips.  They’re plump and shiny.  But not oversized like the blonde sorority chicks who were trying to have their wicked way with me.

It takes effort to force my gaze back to hers, where it stays fastened.  There’s an intensity within her golden depths that makes me feel like I’m drowning.

It’s the strangest sensation.

One I don’t understand.

She tilts her chin to maintain eye contact.  “Spoiler alert—I’m not going to sleep with you.”

That’s unfortunate.

“You sure about that?” I rasp.

She presses close enough for me to feel the softness of her breasts through the thin sweater she’s wearing.  I can’t help but flex my chest, desperate for more contact.

“Yeah, I am.  I will never sleep with you.”  Seconds tick by as she carefully searches my gaze.

“The girls that were just hanging all over you are the ones you should take home.”

The edges of my lips quirk upwards.  “Ahhh…so you were watching.  Good to know.”

She snorts.  “My point is that they would be easy.  More your speed.  You should stick with that.”

“Maybe I don’t want easy,” I blurt.

The throaty chuckle that escapes from her breaks the thick tension building between us.

“Of course you do.  You like the thrill of the chase.”

Her smile is like a gut punch.

When I remain silent, unsure what to say, she continues.  “Please.  Easy is what you’re used to.”

“Interesting.  I didn’t realize we knew each other so well.”

“I don’t have to know you personally to know your type.  I’ve seen it a million times before.

Trust me when I say that I’m not what you’re looking for.”

Before I can fire back another response, she says, “I was just about to take off.  But it was nice not meeting you.”  She cocks her head.  “Let’s keep it that way, shall we?”

I…

Have no words.

I’m pretty sure that my mouth is gaping wide like a small mouth bass.

With that, she takes a step in retreat.  Air rushes between us, making me miss the warmth of her smaller body pressed against mine.

It’s only when she swings away and is no longer staring at me that I find my tongue.  “Never say never, firecracker.”
