These novella’s are something that Piper Rayne do to perfection. They get us invested in these large family / small town series and they write awesome easy to read books that hook us. Then they write these little novellas that give us a few easter eggs to the upcoming books and a little more insight into our previous couples and just make us salivate for the next book to see if our guesses are correct.
They also throw in some serious series spoilers that make us want to squeal about the new discoveries. And now we have to wait. And I hate wait. But then I know the next book is going to be great especially with the new info we just got. Thankfully these lovely ladies pump these books out pretty quick, so we are going to get it soon.
When I heard we were getting Bette and E's book I was scared. Alley can be a real monster sometimes and since I've read Kay's story, I thought maybe this book would be devastating. So, I was petrified. Then I read her promise at the start and I couldn't turn the page fast enough.
This is a standalone prequel novella. And honestly it can be read whenever but knowing what happens to all these characters after this definitely added to the emotions. That said the chemistry between Bette and E is electric and I actually found myself so lost in Alley's writing I kept waiting to see what was happening next.
I got to the end of this and was so desperate for more. But I'm also relieved that it ended there. I just really need Alley to write faster.
Genre: Contemporary Romance
When
I started reading this book I had no idea it was a novella. To be completely
honest I was hooked from the title. Then throw in it was a new adult, college,
brothers best friend romance and I was adding it to my TBR. So when I finally
picked it up and started reading it, I was a little upset by how quickly the
pages flew bye.
But
for a full length novella I probably wouldn’t have liked it as much as I did
reading it as a novella. Firstly the writing was a little tell not show about
some things but they were the exact right things for that to be about as they
just added background as to what was happening to the characters at that point
rather than being part of the actual story.
I
sat down to read this after a long car trip when I just needed to unwind and
relax and this book had me wrapped from the first page. And even better was
that because of it’s size I read it in the one sitting before I crashed and it
was the perfect sweet escape. It had a little (tiny bit) of angst and drama but
for the main part it was a sweet story.
Corbin
and Hayley were great, relatable characters and the writing was good. And now
that I know it’s a series of novellas I will be signing up for them all.
Because this was a great late evening read to relax to.
When the Bailey's series finishes, I wasn't ready to see it end. It has felt a little like watching my own family grow up. I have loved watching them all fall in love and get married and have babies. But I have especially loved G'ma Dori and Ethel conspire and plot and plan. They were hilarious and I am really looking forward to the next series where they turn their eyes to Ethel's family.
In this one we got the points of view of a handful of G'ma Dori's great-grandchildren. And through that we saw the planning of her 90th birthday party and of course caught up with the goings on of all the family.
It was great, light-hearted, sweet fun. I could not have been happier. It really felt like it closed off the Bailey series in such a perfect way and at least we all know we can go back and visit any time we need.
A GoodReads friend of mine wrote an awesome review for Solitary Man that had me running off to Kindle to grab it. But when I saw it was the third in the series and the first one was free I figured I may as well start there.
Mountain Man felt a little like an Alexa Riley novel. It had the insta love I enjoy, along with a little bit of drama that's not really drama. And a growling, sweet hero who's been basically solitary forever.
Both characters were cute and easy to like. There wasn't any real drama and it was only a short read. The only thing I can say is make sure you don't read it in public because there's a lot of really hot sex scenes. Other than that dive in now.
I've developed a bit of a taste for these forbidden fruits so when I got a BookBub notification about this one releasing I went on over to KU and grabbed it. I didn't bother reading the blurb I just jumped right in and it all because obvious pretty quickly.
This was a Covid inspired brothers’ best friend and I was there for it. I liked Shelby from the beginning. Partially because I can relate to the lack of impact Covid quarantine has had on my day to day life. But mainly because she was just your average, down to earth, slightly chubby single chick. She wasn't obsessed with how she looked or what anyone thought, and I liked that.
Derrick not so much. I don't have an issue with the whole man whore thing and I wasn't worried it was mentioned a time or two. I just didn't like him. He felt really one dimensional. And the book felt like it ended pretty abruptly without an actual conclusion. I have gotten used to epilogues and happily ever afters and this felt like someone snatched the book from me and told me to guess. Oh well, hopefully the next one is as good as the previous ones.
A Quick Snap Collection Novella
Publisher: Lady Boss Press
Release Date: September 14, 2020
Lexie
I'm really loving this authors world thing that seems to be going off at the moment. It is the perfect opportunity to dip my toe in the world or in the work of new to me authors. And this Quick Snap series is perfect. Because I am finding authors who can write some great sports romance novellas.
This is my first read by Lea Coll and I'm definitely adding her to my want to read authors list. Because for a novella this had everything I needed to be invested in both characters. And to be excited for them to get to their happily ever after.
Lexie and Gavin were both really sweet and I loved that neither of them played games or created unnecessary drama. They were both professional and mature and despite this being relatively short it still gave me a good feel for both of them.
I can't wait to read more of these books in the With me in Seattle world and hopefully find a few more authors to stalk, I mean read.
I love Kaylee Ryan but I haven't had the chance to read her earlier books yet. I have them on my TBR mountain but it's the same old story too many books not enough time. So I have only really read her new books as they have released. And naturally when I saw the sign up for layer by layer I jumped on it.
I was so excited to receive this prequel to the new series. But now I am really wishing I could have read her other books first because I've just realised that a few (?) of the secondary characters cross over from her soul serenade series and I adore when that happens. It feels like an inside story I'm apart of, except right now I'm not and I so want to be one of the cool kids. Oh well guess I should just be excited at how awesome the start to this new series is and how much I can't wait to read the next book.
Because if the characters are anything like Jase and Sam I am going to freaking love it. This book has all the feels of insta love since it's a fairly short novella, except that we have the background info that Jase gas pursued Sam for quite some time. But damn does that man give amazing chase and even better boyfriend. I love him.
And this has been the perfect little intro to the main series as it's given a great set up on who all the Riggin's brothers are. And a bit of background info on each of them being that Sam works for them and Jase has been close with them forever.
This
book was exactly what I expected and wanted when I read the blurb for it. It’s
a sweet novella with a charming librarian heroine and a sexy tattooed boxer
hero.
Both
Tabitha and Brodie were likable and from the little time we got to know them
they were very relatable. Obviously, with the length of the book it was very
much instalove but it was cute and flowed well and I really enjoyed it.
This
was exactly what I needed after an angsty read just to enjoy and get lost in
for thirty minutes.
This is the first book I have read from Amanda Faye. I read the blurb for it and thought it sounded fun. I didn't realise it was only a short story, but honestly that just added to the appeal. I literally picked it up and read it before bed.
Ryan
has been in love with Cris since they were young, only Cris thought he was just
messing around. And his affection and declarations of love just became part of
their banter. Which really connected me to them as a couple. I could feel their years of friendship and history in every interaction. The jump from friends to more felt like I had waited forever for it while I watched in unfold. The fact that his sister was always aware of where they were both at and was all in was a nice bonus.
For
a reasonably short novel, I didn't feel like I missed out on anything. The
chemistry was hot, but the emotion came across just as strongly. And I read the
whole time with a really happy feeling and the urge to jump into more books by
Amanda Faye so I'm off to check out her catalog on GoodReads.
