Darby has always been ‘that’ guy.

The guy that no man, woman, or child wants around their loved one.

See, a long time ago he made some bad decisions. Those bad decisions have haunted him ever since. No matter what he does, people still see him as the town’s screw up. The boy that sold his soul to the Devil.

Years later, he’s turned himself around. Made amends and ultimately turned into a generally good guy. Only, it’s hard to act like a good guy when people still treat you like the old you, and not the new you.

Enter Waylynn Jennings.

Waylynn has watched Darby Valentine from afar for a very long time.

She’s witnessed the changes in him and knows the only reason he’s so mean is to protect the man that lies within. A battered, injured soul that deserves more than what he’s received. Even his own family takes him for granted.

She’s made it her new mission in life to prove to everyone that Darby isn’t the bad guy. That he’s a kind-hearted, sweet soul that’s just looking for a place to fit in.

Only, Darby is fairly sure that Waylynn is out to kill him, not help him. How else do you explain all the fights he’s having to break up on her behalf, or all the times he has to come to her rescue when she’s managed to put her cute little butt right in the middle of something where it shouldn’t be?

There’s obviously only one solution. He has to make her his. Then everyone will know not to mess with her.

Darby Valentine protects what’s his.

No matter what the cost.

Ok so that epilogue made me all warm and squishy. But I really can't believe that's the end of my Valentine's. I had honestly forgotten that this was it when I started reading the book so when I got to that epilogue and it hit me I suddenly wanted to read a hell of a lot slower.

Darby was such a misunderstood character. His family still saw him as the hell raising, angry, trouble making, teenager he had been and missed the years where he had grown up and turned his life around. And I felt his pain. Until we got more of Waylynn's story anyway.

Waylynn really made my heart hurt. Not once did she complain or feel sorry for herself and damn did she deserve to. I really wanted Darby to kick her dad's arse for being such a selfish acehole. But I guess in the end her dad doesn't matter when she has the Valentine family to fold her into their brand of love, support and craziness.

This book was super sweet and I read it in one sitting with a big smile on my face. And even though I'm going to miss them all, I have loved every minute of the series. The heartbreak, the laughs, but mostly, the love. And thank God they are always there for a re-read.

Release Date: March 24

Candy Ray Sunshine—Yes, that is my real name, thank you very much, Mom and Dad—knew two things.

One, she was going to work her butt off and open her very own coffee shop, even if she had to die doing it.

Two, Banks Valentine was the world’s worst ex-boyfriend in the history of ex-boyfriends. Even if they were only boyfriend and girlfriend for one evening. She wouldn’t sneeze on him even if he was on fire.

***
Banks Valentine also knew two things.
One, he was an immature jerk when he was in high school, and Candy Ray Sunshine probably could open a coffee shop if she put her mind to it. But he still thinks that she should shoot a little higher, anything that gets her the heck out of Kilgore, Texas.

Two, he likes riding bulls. It’s a dangerous job, and when he gets on the back of one of those thousand-pound death machines, he can finally feel his head clear enough that he can think.

***
Candy and Banks would never get along. Not after what he said, and definitely not after what she did.

Then again, neither one of them expected that night to end the way it did, either—the night that both of them refused to talk about the next morning.

I knew going in that I was going to love Banks and Candy's story. First because Lani Lynn Vale wrote it. Secondly because this series has been great. But mainly because the tension between them was palpable in Crazy Heifer, I just knew it was going to be amazing when it exploded.

What I didn't know was how much my heart was going to break for Candy. I thought the drama between her and Banks was normal dickhead, egotistical, teenager boy behaviour from when they were in high school carried over into adult animosity. I had this assumption that he had messed up and she had held a grudge. And I figured he would grovel and voila smoking hot chemistry explodes. Boy was I wrong. Candy broke my heart and made me love her for all that she went through and how beautifully she dealt with it.

There was so much more to this story than I anticipated. And I loved it. I loved that Candy was the awesome person that she was. And I really loved that Banks had grown up and realised that she was everything he wanted. They were so sweet together and that epilogue just killed me. I loved it so hard. And now I can't wait to get Darby's book next.

So these Valentine Boys are freaking awesome. I really liked Ace and Codie in Herd that but I think Desi and Callum beat them out in Crazy Heifer. Or maybe it’s just that there was a little more going on with Desi’s acehole ex and all the boys wanted in on the action so we saw a whole lot more of the brothers. And oh man the brothers. And the nephews, can I just say, are shaping up to be just as solid men as their father and uncles.

So Desi we already kind of knew from Herd That, being as she was Codie’s bestie and obviously we knew Callum since he’s Ace’s brother. But with them being the focus of this book I just loved them so much. Desi was such a sweetheart. And her ex was such a jerk I really wanted him to get hit by a falling piano. And his new fiance needed to be gently slapped in the face with a brick. But Desi took the high road and acted like the adult which is something I respect especially since I haven’t even got the directions to that road yet.

Callum was just beautiful. I loved that he was instantly attracted to Desi and her curves and that she was exactly his type and he wasn’t shy in showing her. But I especially loved that regardless of that he was determined to prevent her from being bullied by her ex and his fiance. And he went in hard and used it not just to defend Desi from Mal but also to spend time with her and claim her. He was exactly what she needed and he treated her like she walked on water and I just adored them as a couple.

I loved the background characters and like I said we got a lot of the brothers in this one so I am excited to keep getting more of their stories. And we got to know a little about Candy so I am doubly excited for her and Banks to explode in a big cloud of angry hate sex chemistry. But I am also praying that Darby gets himself a hottie jeweller sales person because she seriously felt like she could give that boy a run for his money. I was devastated at the loss of Molloy, he brought so much to this story and I would have loved to have him all through the series. But knowing there’s still so much goodness to come I can’t wait.

Codie and Ace were just so sweet and perfect together. I really can't get enough of them.

I had all these ideas of what I was expecting as I went into this book and they were totally turned on their head. I thought Codie was going to be a little bit fragile and delicate but I was really happy to discover she was such a strong, determined heroine. She just completely took names and kicked butt.

Ace was just perfection in a pair of wranglers. He had such a tragic backstory but he was so together and working to provide everyone he loved with a better future. And once he set his sights on Codie he claimed her and didn't look back. I absolutely loved him.

These two were perfect together and I am really excited about the fact that there's a whole series of these Valentine siblings. And even better is that the next one is Codie's best friend Desi. So I am praying we continue to get a whole heap of the sweetness of Ace and Codie.
