Trailer

Excerpt
We clink our glasses together then down the shots. The groomsman passes me a lime wedge, but I shake my head, causing him to pull me aside.
“My name’s Jared,” he says with a cocky smirk.
“I thought this was supposed to be a no-names night?” I reply, giving him shit, even though I have no interest in him.
“It is. But for you, I’ll make an exception. You need to know what name to say when I make you scream later.”
Cade comes up from behind Jared, clamping his big hand down on Jared’s skinny shoulder.
Jared glances back at Cade. They share some kind of a look that causes Jared to immediately ditch me. He saunters over to Tory and throws his arm around her, which earns him a hint of a smile from Cade.
“So does this mean you’re not married?” Tory asks Jared.
“Nope, I’m single as a Pringle,” he replies.
I expect Cade to say something to me, but instead he turns away.
I’m not sure what just happened, but I think it was some guy-code thing.
And it pisses me off.
Tory sees the rage on my face, takes my hand, and drags me off to the bathroom.
“What’s wrong?”
“Did you see that!?” I rant, as we step inside the ladies’ room, finding a long line. “Cade cock blocked me! Not that I wanted that guy’s cock, because you already called dibs on it, but Cade didn’t know that!”
“Since you don’t have a cock,” she replies. “I think it’s called blocking the box.”
“Oh, no,” the girl in front of us says. “It’s called twat blocking.”
“I thought it was boxed,” another woman says.
“Baseball players call cock blocking stealing signs.”
A voice from inside one of the stalls yells out, “It’s called clam jamming.”
Pretty soon everyone in the bathroom is giving us their opinions.
“Twat swatting or twat stopping.”
“Beaver dammed.”
“Va-jected!”
I shake my head at Tory. “Whatever. It really shouldn’t matter what part you have. I got cock blocked because I will be having no cock tonight.”
“There’s still time,” Tory says. “You can have the groomsman. You need to get laid worse than I do, honey. It’s been far too long.”
“But why would he cock block me and then walk away?!”
As soon as the words tumble out of my mouth, Cade’s mother steps out of one of the stalls.
I put my head down, hoping she won’t notice me and, thankfully, she squeezes past us without saying a word.
“Holy buckets,” Tory says when the door closes behind her. “Wasn’t that his mother?”
“Uh, yeah. You can kill me now.”

Broken Love is a really sweet second chance meets best friends little sister romance.  I think I was expecting something a lot more angsty when I read the blurb so as I got into this I was so happy to see that it had a lot less drama and a lot more sweetness than I anticipated, as well as a heap of smoking hot sex scenes, and I loved it.

Cade was such a sweetheart. He wore his heart on his sleeve and was so openly head over heels in love with Palmer I loved him. That said I really would have liked him to man up a few times and stand up for himself more, not that he bent over for anyone but there were a few moments there where I would have forgiven him for screaming “What the fuck?” in a few faces and maybe have things go his way a little (or a whole heap more) rather than being a stand up guy and trying to make everyone around him happy.

And obviously one of those people was Palmer. She was a bit of a dumbfuck I am sorry to say. While I can understand her hiding her relationship initially from her brother when they first started but damn did she drag that out to the end and cause untold misery by being a stubborn idiot. Now I didn’t hate her per say so much as I just felt like her choices were stupid and she over reacted and held onto petty crap way too long.

Palmer was wickedly funny in her inner dialogue and her best friend / assistant cougar was awesome and their relationship and conversations had me laughing out loud a few times. I really hope Tory gets her own book cause I am sure she will be hysterical and entertaining to the very end. I loved her.

The families and secondary characters in this book were flawless and I really am enjoying this series. I am not sure if I want to see another Crawford brother get his book next or maybe Palmer’s brother, Pike, or her assistant Tory bet whichever way it goes I will be there with my one click happy little finger making sure it lands on my kindle.

So I started this book because I have had it on my TBR pile for ages and I just got notification that the next one is coming out soon and I really wanted a break from the angst and drama overload I had been on lately. I wanted something light and fluffy and fun but for the first 10% I was just frustrated and not really loving the characters.

I actually think I may have pulled a muscle with all the eye rolling I had going on but I figured I would read another 10% to be fair and suddenly I was at the end of the book with a big goofy smile on my face, tears in my eyes and bummed that the second book wasn’t already released so I could dive straight into it.

So why the turn around? And WTF was my issue for the first 10%? The truth is not a lot changed to make my attitude adjust I think I just decided to go with it and stop trying to pick apart the issues. Also the things that were pissing me off in the first 10% set up the story so they weren’t mentioned again so I didn’t have to dwell on them. I could just read the story and enjoy what was happening right now rather than judge the actions I felt were not realistic.

But one thing I do need to bitch about that really bugged me is Ash’s attitude over her boyfriend using cocaine and the explanation she is anti drugs then her needing to be babysat so she doesn’t get high between takes. I personally feel there is a world of difference between cocaine and a joint, which I am assuming is the attitude here but a distinction wasn’t really made so it just looked like it was thrown in for the sake of drama that wasn’t needed imo.

And to be 100% fair to the author this is a short story based on insta love and I really can’t complain that a lot happened in the first 10% to set the scene for the story when the book is only 200 pages. And all those things are the reason I loved the story and completely fell for Cash.

Cause honestly he was the star of this book. He was sweet, sexy, funny, caring and just perfect. I absolutely loved him and I am so glad the next book in the series is going to be Cade and Palmer as I am just dying to find out what happened between them after the snippets we got in this book and I am also counting on seeing a bit more of Cash and hopefully his awesome sister (she seriously stole the show off Ashlyn for me)

So if you’re like me and love insta love I honestly suggest you struggle through the first 10% maybe with a glass of wine and get to the good stuff to fall in love with Cash. He is well worth it.
