I feel like I've waited for this book forever. Luckily for me I picked up this series about halfway in, so I haven't been waiting as long as some but from the first introduction to the Eden's I was hooked. And having to wait for the lovely Devney to write them was akin to torture in my brain. As soon as this one was released, I grabbed it on audible so I could listen to it while still adulting.

The narration was awesome. I love dual narration. I have to admit since it has been a minute since I read the last one it did take me a few chapters to get up to speed on Vera. Then it all hit me like a freight train, and I was completely immersed in finding out more. Obviously, I knew her secrets and back story from Vance but to hear it from her was heartbreaking.

The blurb on this also tripped me up. Because I knew Matteo and kind of knew his story, but I had this image in my head of him being cold and uninterested in Vera from the way I interpreted it. Then the book started, and I didn't get the feelings I was expecting. Matteo was so there, and I couldn't get enough of him.

Plus, I love that Vera saw Matteo so beautifully yet was so clueless at the same time. Although the same was true for Matteo. So, once they got on the same page it was beautiful. The whole relationship progressed so perfectly I couldn't find fault in any of it. There was no drama or misunderstanding.

The way everything was tied up with her father was super cute. Not the perfect romantic ending you might expect but just beautiful closure of the chapter. And I loved the epilogue, but that bonus epilogue was the perfect cherry on the top. Thankfully I still have a few of Devney’s other books on my TBR so I won't go crazy waiting to see what's up next now that our Eden's are all done. Next generation wouldn't be a bad idea though, just saying.

Sable Peak by Devney Perry is now live!

An unrequited love, small town romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, Devney Perry.

Vera Gallagher is chasing constant. For four years, her life was anything but normal. And the years before that she refuses to even remember. Dwelling on the past only hurts. Life is fragile, a lesson her mother taught her well. She's determined not to waste a moment of her newfound freedom.

He's handsome. Charming. Witty. And he loves his family the way Vera loves—with her whole heart.

Maybe he'll never notice her. Maybe she's too damaged, too broken, to find that normal life she craves. Maybe her secrets will always keep them apart. But Vera will love him anyway. Whether Mateo realizes it or not.

This book just reinforces the fact I have no chill. I have been anxiously awaiting this since I read the epilogue in the last one and was going to grab it from KU. Then I got my subscription email from the talented Devney Perry and saw it was already available on audible. So, I bought it and listened to it in one sitting. #sorrynotsorry.

Lyla has always been a stable, level-head in the Eden family and was very easy to like from a distance without much thought. So having her as the heroine and getting a more in-depth look into her was beautiful. She was so level-headed and realistic and looked at things logically while still acknowledging that she felt all the feels. I loved her.

I have to admit Vance started on the back foot a little with me, but I quickly got over my reservations and fell in love with him too. He was so upfront, and no BS and I enjoyed the fact he just put it out there but with the utmost respect for everyone else and how they might feel or react.

I did figure out pretty quickly the twist, but I didn't see it playing out quite how it did. Although I did enjoy watching it happen. And the epilogue and teaser for the next book has me dying to get my hands on it. Please.

I am such an idiot for starting this series that the beautiful Devney Perry is still writing rather than one of the other series she has already finished because I have absolutely no chill. I can't handle waiting between books because my goldfish memory promptly forgets all the cute little inside knowledge I've acquired from the previous books. And although this works as a standalone, I want to be in the know damn it.

That said I did remember bits and pieces of the previous characters as they floated in and out of this book so that was enough to pull me off the ledge. And this book was so much about Jasper and Eloise that at times I forgot about everyone else. And I was so unable to put it down I grabbed the whisper sync so I could keep listening while I adulted.

I adored this book and Eloise was perfect. Sometimes too perfect as she tried to prove herself to her parents. But I loved her. Literally everything about her was great, she didn't play games, she said what she was thinking, and she genuinely cared about everyone around her. Jasper, I had moments with. And honestly, I think it's just things my brain decided to focus on that caused me issue.

Now I'm going to be vague so as not to spoil anything here, but I need to vent. Firstly, he expected Eloise to know how he felt when he really didn't give her a lot to go on. And when there was an incident in regard to a ring, he didn't use his words. And for me that was a big issue that I felt needed to be resolved and just wasn't. Which is sticking in my brain like a splinter. "What about the ring, Devney?" Then there were his inner thoughts on why he was an arse at family dinner. Yeah, he was using it as an excuse, but it was still a genuine issue he should have addressed. And I kept waiting and then, nothing.

I know that those things were me issues more than story issues, but I can't stand it when people expect you to know what they are feeling or thinking. Use your big boy words. Luckily Jasper did get better at communication. But honestly it was all Eloise having the patience of a saint and the stubbornness of a bull. and the ability to use both to perfection.

Now we have to wait forever for crimson river. Which sounds freaking amazing and I can't wait. Gah, I hate waiting.

This book has been everywhere in my recommendations recently, so I checked out the series and jumped into the little Christmas novella and loved it. Then I saw they were like $9 each and I balked.  Now don't get me wrong I don't have an issue paying that for an eBook, I just have KU, audible and a habit of buying 10 books I want to read and then only reading one of them, so I need to work my way up to it sometimes. And then Audible gave me some great inspiration to use my credits and I grabbed the first book in the series. And loved it but was even more desperate to get my hands on this one so off I went to throw $9 at kindle with no regrets.

This book was everything I could have hoped for and more. It had the awesome hero who was everything you would want him to be. And the whole story played out exactly how I wanted. I couldn't put it down and I have already preordered the next one. And now I'm off to stalk all things Devney Perry.

I kept getting the second book in this series pop up as a recommendation and upon reading the blurb I thought it sounded great, but I had to start at the start of the series since they sounded great too. So, I decided to use an audible credit and listen to this one.

From the first word I was invested. I genuinely liked both characters and I wanted to get to know them better and see how everything played out for them. The small-town setting was awesome and gave me a great feel for the secondary characters who I'm assuming will be through the rest of the series.

The suspense was right on point, and I was dying to see how things were going to unfold. The narration was awesome and next book has been set up so that I'm dying to read it.

Here's the thing, I have a serious love hate relationship with second chance romance. If it's not done to perfection I hate it, I need a VERY legitimate reason for the break up; I need BOTH or neither character to have been celibate depending on the break up; and then I need grovelling, like major, world class grovelling. So when I read the blurb for this book I was thinking hard pass.

But it kept popping up so I pre-ordered thinking I would eventually get there, like when the next one starts popping up but as soon as it landed on my Kindle I had to read more of this series because I am absolutely loving it.

From the first page I was engrossed. Having it told in dual point of view meant that I knew there was more to the story than Talia thought. And I had to know what that was, because Foster was so openly in love with Talia and so desperate to have her hear him out. But damn, did I feel Talia's heartbreak. As much as I felt the chemistry and I went on that whole rollercoaster of emotions. I couldn't put the book down.

This book was so perfectly written and the story was beautiful and I'm so glad that I jumped right in. And I'm already dying for the next book, in fact I'm off to see if the preorder is up because I need that story.
