Picking up
this book was 110% a no brainer. I can't get enough of Sarina Bowen, but to get
a true north novella is just the cherry on top. I will admit to a little bit of
disappointment when I realised that the of the 3 stories in this edition only 1
was new. But I got over it as soon as I picked it up because omg we get more
true north.
This is the
first time in years that I've read a story in third person, and I thought I
might struggle with that. But by the second page I was too busy asking what are
you going to do next Damien? And being completely smitten by both him and
Nicolette.
The passing
of years had me a little impatient and I can completely see why this book is
called crossroads with the number of times these guys paths crossed. I was
dying for each meeting to be the time all that insane chemistry came to a head.
And then it would pass, and I'd deflate a little. I literally felt like I was
holding my breath for half the book, and I didn't want to put it down. Luckily
it was a novella.
When they
finally got on the same pages it was sweet and cute and so perfect. Followed by
hot as hell. My only complaint is that it was a novella, and I want so much
more. More of his family, more of them together, more of her family falling off
a cliff and a certain someone being hit by a bus. But that's always how I feel
when I put down a Sarina Bowen novel so now, I just have to wait for her next
book.
Honestly, I
don’t think Sarina Bowen could write anything that wasn’t amazing. I don’t even
know how to put into words how truly perfect her characters are in the most
genuine, real, warts and all kinds of ways. From the moment a new book is
announced I just know I am going to live in it from the first page to the very
last word. Because she has built the most amazing small town, with the most
beautiful hearted people who are all sort of interconnected but not so much
that it doesn’t feel authentic. It all just feels like she is sitting in the
middle of a small-town cafe and writing the tales of all the people that live
there and I am completely here for it.
Nash and
Livia were no different and yet were so unique in their own personalities and
problems and life dramas. I couldn’t get enough of the chemistry between them,
and I love that they had this random little initial meeting that set the match
for the inevitable explosion between them. The story was so sweet and there
were so many things that needed to be resolved and the chemistry was so hot I
jumped my poor husband on his way passed.
I really
loved the book and it all flowed so naturally but with so much happening that
all felt so believable I never wanted to put it down. The Giltmaker’s are
definitely a family that I can relate to in their dysfunction and love. I’m so
glad that Livia gets to have that because she seriously deserved it by the end
of this book. And I really can’t wait to get the next book (come on Poppy and
Mitch) no matter who it is. Even better if it’s more bruisers. But seriously I
am ready to read an instructional manual if Sarina writes it.
TOMMASO
The furniture district is my personal hell. I don’t know my ass from an ottoman. But when a hot designer comes to my rescue, I realize my problems are bigger than the house I’m trying to furnish.
A scorching kiss over fabric samples makes me question all my choices. But is it too late to change my entire life to get more of them?
CARTER
I need this gig, but my cocky new client leaves out a couple crucial details:
He doesn’t mention that he's a famous hockey player. And he doesn’t own up to the way he’s always trying to undress me with his dark, broody eyes.
The man throws out more mixed signals than a broken traffic light. I've never been more sexually frustrated in my entire life. I need to back away before I do something stupid, like lose my heart.
Oops. Too late.
Sarina
Bowen is just one of those authors that you know what you are going to get, and
you know you're going to love it. Not in a predictable way, in an amazing
writing, awesome characters and a story I won't want to put down. The only
drawback is being busy as hell and trying to figure out how you can read this
book without interruption or the house burning down around me.
Luckily
for me it's school holidays here and the kids are off enjoying the break and I
could hide away and get lost with Tommaso and Carter. And wow was I swept away
with these guys. From the first page I was so invested in everything that was
going on for each of them. It was such a completely different thing for each of
them and they both dealt with their issues in their own ways, but I wanted to
swoop in and make it all better.
I
couldn't get enough of them together. And normally Tommaso being all conflicted
and on the fence, I would be screaming for Carter to run but I just couldn't.
Because seeing why Tommaso was working so hard to fight himself made me want to
grab my pitchfork. Luckily Carter was able to see through the layers and have
the patience to hold out for him to deal with it in his own way.
Carter
had such golden retriever energy despite having so much against him. Having the
book in dual point of view made my love for both of these guys so much
stronger. I personally would have loved a little vengeance and hellfire to rain
down on the people that had upset them, but I guess I can live with the happy
floaty feeling I had when I put the book down.
Sarina
Bowen knows how to give me all the feels. And any time she wants to take me to
Vermont I am there. But it feels like forever since the last book of hers I've
read. Then I start reading and all of these characters and places start jumping
out at me, and I feel like I'm actually visiting somewhere I've been before.
Leila
and Mateo had a long and complex history and getting to see them back in time
added so much depth and heartbreak to where their relationship was at the start
of this story. Because there was so much that could have gone differently and
yet it played out so realistically and naturally. I kept expecting some big
drama or weird revelation and instead I got emotions and just the right amount
of angst.
The
whole story had so much sweet and just enough heartbreak that I didn't want to
put it down to adult. I loved that we got another Rossi sibling married off and
got to catch up with so many awesome characters from previous books. This is a
complete standalone and although there are a lot of cross over characters it
really doesn't matter. I can't wait to see who is up next and maybe get another
glimpse of some more old fictional friends.
A new male / male hockey romance from 24-time USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen!
My name is Hudson Newgate, but my teammates call me New Guy.
That was my nickname in Chicago, too. And Vancouver. That’s what happens when you keep getting traded. Brooklyn is my last chance, especially after my poor performance last season.
But I can make this work. The new guy knows to keep his head down and shoot the puck. The new guy puts the game first.
What he doesn’t do is hook up with the other new guy—a hot athletic trainer who lives in my building. Gavin needs this job with my team. He’s a single dad with responsibilities.
We can’t be a couple. My arrogant agent–who’s also my father–will lose his mind if I’m dating a dude. And my team needs me to score goals, not whip up a media circus.
Too bad Gavin and I are terrible at resisting each other…

As
soon as I saw the sign up for a new Sarina Bowen book, I was on it, I didn't
read the blurb, I didn't know if it was part of a series, I was ready for it.
Then I started seeing teasers and I realised it was a hockey book and I was
even more excited to get my hands on it. But the icing on the cake was finding
out it was a MM book. No-one does MM like Sarina Bowen. Perhaps that's because
hers were my first but I just love them. If I didn't know better, I'd think she
was writing lived experience.
Although
in saying that if she writes it I'm buying it and reading it before it's fully
downloaded on my kindle. Seriously all of her books have the perfect balance of
emotions, drama, humour, and just amazing stories. Add in characters that I end
up caring way too much about for fictional characters and I am a little
obsessed. Not in a scary restraining order kind of way, promise.
Hudson
and Gavin had the best hearts. They were just so sweet and loving and
supportive and caring, and I loved them. But they also had wicked hot chemistry
and the sex scenes were mmmm. Then top it off with realistic life problems and
non-problems, just the everyday navigation of a new relationship and a new city.
I would be remiss if I didn't warn you to be careful of when and where you read
this though as I had a lot of surprise laugh out loud moments. As well as a few
times my eyes seemed to spontaneously leak.
I
really struggled to put this down to adult but every time I picked it up again,
I immediately picked it right back up because each time I was away they were
all living in my head rent free. And of course, we got awesome secondary
characters, and I don't just mean the Bruisers and family we already know. I'm
praying that we get books for so many people.
I
do have to say there was a moment at the 70 or 80% mark I was waiting for this
magical resolution. And it didn't happen. But I couldn't even be sad about it
because what happened was just so much more realistic it made it perfect.
Although that happened consistently throughout the book, you would think I
would have stopped trying to guess the next plot twist, but it sure did make
the aforementioned adulting easier.
The
only terrible thing about this book is it's finished and now I have to pretend
to be patient while we wait for the next book. And as we all know waiting
sucks.
New from twenty-time USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen!
How to behave when the guy who broke your heart two thousand miles away turns up in your office:
One: Don’t drop your lucky coffee cup in shock, even though it’s been ten years.
Two: Don’t get defensive when he asks how you ended up working his family’s ski mountain… and why you kept it a secret.
Three: Give him the worst room in the resort. He deserves it for suddenly waltzing back in like he owns the place. (Which he kind of does.)
Four, five, six, seven, eight and nine: Do not kiss him in the hot tub.
Ten: Try to keep your heart intact after you break all of your rules.
Because Reed is leaving again. Hate can't turn back into love. And it’s a little too late…

The
first time these three authors collaborated they were two of my utmost
favourite authors and another I had never read. And I read both of their books
as soon as they released, bought the third book, and never read it. Since then,
I have become a massive fan of the third author and when I saw this collaboration,
I was so excited. It feels like I have waited forever to finally get my hands
on this book. But it was well worth the wait.
Obviously,
Sarina Bowen can write. Everything she writes is like a master class in making
me have all the feels. And a second chance romance that made me cry and feel
sorry for both characters is something to cherish. Because I put the book down
and I just want to gush to everyone how awesome it is.
Ava
and Reed had both been through the wringer and I just wanted to make everything
better. But obviously that was up to Sarina, and she did such an incredible job
I couldn't put the book down. I was sure we would get to our HEA but there was
so much to be worked out to get there. And I couldn't wait to see how it was
all going to work out. And most of the things on my bingo card didn't get
called.
I'm
so thrilled I have the next book on my kindle ready to go. I just don't know
how I'm going to wait for the third one but buckle in family it's going to be a
really long two weeks of me waiting.
After I’m arrested for throwing a raucous party, my hockey team says I have an image problem. And I need to fix it, stat.
Charity work? Check. Haircut? Sure. But I draw the line at hiring my neighbor to style me. In the first place “style” shouldn’t be a verb. And I’m tired of people who’d judge me on appearances.
Vera and I don’t see eye to eye on anything. She wants me to try on clothes, while I just want to remove hers. She's distractingly pretty, with soulful eyes and a sinful mouth that likes to argue with me.
But when management threatens my summer vacation, I grudgingly agree to Vera’s unusual proposal: she’ll give me an image makeover. But in return, she wants lessons in the art of seduction.
It sounds a little nutty, but I know a good opening when I hear it. Besides, it’s not like I’ll ever fall for her…

This month has so many amazing authors releasing new books, I feel like a kid in a candy shop. And a new Brooklyn hockey book from Sarina Bowen is just adding to the sugar rush. If only we didn't have to adult and could sit and read all day I would be one happy little camper.
This
book was such an easy read. From the first page I was invested in both
characters and dying to see what was going to happen next. I wanted to see how
these two completely different characters were going to realise they were perfect
for each other. Especially since they both had these very firm preconceived
notions of what they felt they needed and wanted and they didn't align with the
other.
The
setting in Italy with all the Brooklyn couples was so perfect. And I actually
enjoyed watching Ian struggle with everything that he had going on and working
it all out. I feel like I could have happily stayed in this book forever. And
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Hopefully it will be here
sooner than later.
