It's
been so long since I binge read the previous books in this series that I had
completely forgotten most of the characters and thought I would be lost. And I
read the start of the blurb and thought it was going to be emotional and sad.
Then I started reading it and it came flooding back to me, along with the
assumptions I had previously made. And the book was definitely emotional but
not in a sad way, so I felt like an idiot for waiting so long to read it,
because I had loved the previous books in the series and this one was a great
addition to them.
Paris
has had an absolute (starts with B and rhymes with witch) of a girlfriend who
went out of her way to make life hard for Vanessa. And I had kind of assumed
that they had fallen out in high school or something and that the issue was
between the two women. Once we get into the book and see the past that is all
cleared up and I have to admit I can see how it happened. Obviously, I’m not
going to tell you what IT is that happened but oh my heart, you need to read
it.
There
was a lot of history between Paris and Vanessa, and I really loved how they
were together once all that history was cleared up. Add on to that the events
that happened to spark that conversation and the way they dealt with their
history and present. I personally would have liked to see more closure and a
little more retribution, maybe in the form of a truck making some people speed
humps. But that’s probably just my own vengeful heart because what we got was
more than ample for Paris and Vanessa.
Reading
this I was just a big ball of heart eyes and gooey feelings. When I wasn’t too
busy fanning myself because damn these two were combustible AF. I didn’t put
the book down from start to finish and I loved getting more of the other
couples we had previously met. I am seriously hoping we get more of this series
and get to see Paris and Vanessa together in a few years living their best
life. Oh, and complete side note but how hot is that cover?
I honestly cant tell you why it took me so long to read this book, I loved the last 2 in the series and I adore the whole college sports theme and the authors writing style is perfect so why has this sat on my TBR gathering dust? My brain annoys me sometimes.
Anyway I absolutely adored this book. Sadie was a little much at times but as someone who is often pulled up for her dark sense of humour and sarcasm I could relate to her. And even when she acted like a right bellend she was quick to acknowledge her over reaction and apologise so I grew to like her. Danny was just book boyfriend goals. Honestly I couldn't get enough of him.
And now I am dying to watch the next book in the series gather dust on my TBR until the preorder drops on my kindle in October.
Then as we saw things from Andy and Jane's point of view, I felt like I was part of the inside joke. Throw in the background story and I was so invested in these guys getting together. Even more so as everything Andy had been through came to light.
Because as broken as Andy was once he decided to pursue Jane, he gave the best boyfriend. Like serious #BoyfriendGoals. And watching how hard he worked to be everything he felt Jane deserved while waiting for the other shoe to drop had me sitting on the edge of my chair.
I couldn't put the book down. It had so much sweetness and hotness and drama and I had to know what was going to happen next and how certain things were going to play out or come to light. The story and characters were awesome, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
I can't even tell you why I decided to read this book now. I was on audible buying another book that I have had on my KU forever and this one popped up as recommended. But I ignored it and grabbed the book I went on there for and 5 minutes in I couldn't handle the voices or get into the story so I went back and grabbed this and I am so happy I did. Michelle Hercules has a heap of books on my TBR but this is the first one I have read.
And it was perfect NA. I saw most of the twists coming but I was hanging on every word seeing how it was going to happen and how they were going to deal with the fall out from it. Both characters were likeable and had great development and I loved the banter and diversity of friends, family and hobbies. It made them feel very real and I couldn't put the book down. I'm 100% adding book 2 to the TBR mountain.
