I've
taken a short breather in my reading of this series and I'm actually really
glad I did. The anticipation of this book has been threaded through every book
before it and it almost feels like a safe spot to finish but also a new
beginning. All the OG Kayr's vampires are mated, and Janie has fulfilled her
destiny. And a lot of the questions now have answers.
It's
funny because this book had so many ways it could have played out. and I feel
like while I was reading it, I spent as much time thinking about what could
have been as actually reading the book. Each time I would come to a new conclusion
on what would happen next something shifted.
Janie
and Zane actually together were a lot less tumultuous than I expected. But
obviously they didn't have an easy run of it. Everything about them being
together was a fight to get beyond and they handled it beautifully. I am dying
to see where the series is going from here. Yet I also don't know if I want to
read it. Because where we have finally gotten to feels safe and comfortable.
Who am I kidding? I'm one clicking the next one as soon as I finish this.
Toodles
I
feel like I have read this series in slow motion, but it has stayed with me.
Each time I put one of the books down I immediately grab the next one and then
need to wait for the fortitude to read it. Because for a paranormal series it
has been a super emotional ride. And in classic Tessa Bailey style it's also
extremely hot.
Tucker
was the steady, funny, reliable sidekick that I didn't really think twice about
in the earlier books. He was just always there with a joke and a bail out, but
I didn't know what to expect from him. After seeing the meeting between him and
Mary in the last book I was dying to see them from their own points of view.
I
was also dying to see what was going to happen with the war. And for all the
twists and turns that this story took I couldn't guess how that was going to
play out. There were some that we saw coming but most completely blindsided me.
Tucker was the perfect person for Mary. And I loved watching her blossom and
shake off all the things that she had previously thought were disabilities.
The
whole book was just beautiful, and I was really blown away by how much I felt.
And I honestly didn't see the ending coming but I couldn't have been happier
with it.
I
have had this book on my kindle since it was released. I read the first book
and loved it but then I had to wait for this one and I added it to the tbr and
then got distracted and then I couldn’t really remember it and figured I would
need to reread the first book. But then I hit a “what the hell do I read next”
wall and was craving some of Tessa Bailey’s heroes and thought what the hell.
And before I had finished the first chapter it had all come flooding back.
Because
not only was this world unique, but the characters were a certain kind of
special. Honestly this whole world is so well built I feel like I’m going to
stumble across it while out getting petrol one night. And despite the fact it
has been years since I read the first book, I can still remember enough of the
characters to be able to jump in like I never left.
Roksana
and Elias were hot as hell, and I had no idea where the love - hate
relationship had come from until I started reading this book and then I was
just stunned. Their first meeting was so electric I could feel their instant
attraction and I had absolutely no idea how they were going to get from there
to the point I had met them. And to be honest I was scared to find out.
Thankfully
this was told in dual point of view so when Roksana was seeing things from her
point of view and they certainly didn’t put Elias in a positive light we then
got Elias tormented over what he was doing to protect his secret and by
extension to protect Roksana. Because Elias was seriously one amazing, sweet,
protective hero.
This
story was so engrossing, and I was dying to see how all the secrets were going
to come to light. And what was going to happen next. I am so excited to see how
the next book has everything resolve and watch the relationship between these guys
grow even stronger. I have complete faith they will save the world.
How did I not see Jase and Brenna coming? I mean sure hindsight and all that, but they were the absolute epitome of opposites attract. And the breadcrumbs with the painting and Jase's feelings towards Brenna should have made it obvious.
Each
of them has been through their own trials and challenges only to varying
degrees. And the effects those had on them was as different as night and day.
Brenna was all things beautiful and hopeful, while Jase was rage and revenge.
There
was so much going on and so many twists I didn't see coming that made this book
completely enthralling. Watching each of these two connect and learn to trust
in each other was awesome. Especially seeing Jase fall hard for Brenna.
I
can't wait to see where this is going next with so many people still waiting to
get their stories told. Not to mention the loose threads I'm still waiting to
see play out.
This
was a cute little addition to the series. I love that we get so much of these
shifters mixed throughout the main vampire books and then these awesome little
snack size novellas of their own. And we get a tiny bit of extra vampire story
without being anything you might need if you were to miss the novellas.
Maggie, I feel like I really knew, you know for someone who doesn't know herself. She
was an absolute sweetheart who dealt with her issues without letting them weigh
down her spirit. And Terrent we kind of know but he's always been this super
staunch bad arse.
When
the bomb was dropped, I was actually a little annoyed and then I was over it
pretty quickly. I can see why Terrent did what or did and I liked that despite
her initial ire Maggie understood too. I had hoped to get more of Maggie's
history but I'm ok with what we got considering the length of the book. And
hopefully we will be getting more of the bad arse pack in future books.
Especially now that Jase is trying to join.
Well
things are really heating up in the war and in this series. I keep getting so
sucked in to some of these side stories that each time I think I'll read
something else I get sucked right back in to find out what is going to happen.
Especially now that Janie is getting older and everything is getting so much
more interestingly entwined.
When
I picked this up I don't know if that was who I was expecting for Kane, but
Amber was just who he needed. Everything about her was unexpected and
unorthodox but it was impossible not to like her. And having such an awesome
twist with her grandmother just added to the whole craziness of her.
I
mean dragging a vegan, pacifist into the middle of a war of immortals is just
priceless. But she held her own amongst those crazy vampires and even got a
handle on her powers. I love how she absolutely turned our calm, cool,
collected, Kane on his head. And I'm really looking forward to seeing their
relationship mature.
Now
I'm off to grab the next book because I need to see our beautiful Jase find his
way back. And see what Janie has up her sleeve. And how Hilde gets her hands on
Oscar. And so much more that I am unaware of until I am reading it and my brain
is screaming "yes this."
Ah
I absolutely wasn't ready for that book. I mean I've been dying to read Jordan
and Katies story since the beginning, but I feel so unprepared for the reality
of reading it. Firstly, ten years feels like an eternity, but I guess when
dealing with near immortal beings it's hardly a blink of an eye.
Mainly,
I feel like they got ripped off. Especially poor Katie. That poor girl has had
to deal with everything to get that happily ever after. And even then, she had
to fight so hard for it. I mean give the girl a break. On the other hand, if
anyone is strong enough to go through all that, it's Katie.
And
yeah yeah, Jordan was there but man where was the alpha bloody shifter king? I
felt like he would show up for moments but most of the time he was just a
whingy baby. Don't get me wrong, I love Jordan but sack up dude and listen to
Katie. He's just lucky he appreciated her and regretted wasting those ten years
or I would have been wanting more junk punches.
But
on a serious note, gah. There's so much going on and those ten years have been brutal,
and I guess a little necessary to age a few children (and Katie). And there was
some serious twists and turns in the story that I am dying to jump into the
next one and I don't even know what it's called or who it is but it's screaming
my name. Bye.
I
am so hooked on this series right now that I am currently binge reading it on
my laptop and book from the library and complaining about it at every turn.
Sorry family. Not sorry. But I am absolutely loving this world and all of the
people in it.
Conn
and Moira where a couple I was looking forward to getting to know better and there
were so many layers to them and their relationship. Between the war, the
demons, the witches, and the century since their mating there was a lot of
drama for them to sift through.
Both
characters were awesome, and I loved that Conn was so good at seeing what Moira
was worried about and allaying her fears. Even if he was also great at doing
the chest beating overbearing alpha. And Moira knew who she was and fought for
it. Then we got more of everyone else plus the next chapter in the war and a
baby. Sigh.
And
now I have Jordan and Katie waiting for me on my kindle because it was only $5,
and I can't read on my phone for another day. Yeah, I know my brains an acehole
and my kindle is trying to figure out why I'm reading bits and pieces of this
series.
I
didn't realise this was a novella until about half way into it but as far as
these things go it was perfect. It added to the story without being something
you would have to read for the rest of the series progression to make sense or
be interrupted.
It
was nice to see Max get a mate and I love that she fits so perfectly with his
current purpose of protecting Janie. And I'm hoping that next up is Conn’s book
because I'm really dying to get more of him and his mate. I think that's going
to be explosive.
I
put down Fated and went off to grab this on kindle only to have a freak out
about it costing nearly $15 or as Amazon so helpfully calculated only $134 for
the remainder of the series. So, I read a couple of other books I had
previously purchased and not read but I was still dying to binge this series.
Then it finally occurred to me to check out the library.
Which
sounds obvious and simple, but it was 10pm Sunday night and I am not a library
card holder. But I signed up and downloaded overdrive and am now reading on my
phone like a weirdo. However, since I was just able to read this book and have
already borrowed the next three I'm a happy weirdo.
This
world is so intriguing and I'm loving all of the characters. I love that we get
a little more of the overall story with each book while getting so much of each
couple in their own book. Each background character has so much of their own
part of the story. So even though this book was all about Dage and Emma I fell
for Conn and his witch. And I am dying to see if Caleb and Lily succumb to that
tension.
But
the main thing I'm really needing to know is what happens next. So toodles, I'm
off to start book 3 even though I completely decided that I wouldn't start it
until tomorrow so I could get some sleep.
Being
school holidays over here I have a lot of time to read, so I thought I would
start this series I have had on my TBR forever and just binge them all. Dove
into this one and although I was somewhat struggling to keep up with the
massive amount of different characters and it being told from several different
perspectives I enjoyed it. It's been quite a while since I've read a book
setting up a whole new world so it took me a while to lean into it.
Talon
was a little overbearing for me and despite the fact I generally like that. I
had several moments I wanted him to soften in his delivery. Because despite the
fact he was being a bit of a jerk he was doing it for a good reason. Luckily
Cara was more patient than I was and despite her patience, she still argued for
things that were important.
Cara
was perfect. I love that her reactions felt genuine for the situations. And she
was of the act first, ask forgiveness later camp, when she felt it was
important. But she also listened to logic and didn't disregard her beautiful
daughter's abilities.
I
really enjoyed the book and the world that was created and I’m dying to see
where a lot of these characters are heading. So, I jumped on over to kindle to
grab book two to dive on in and freaked out when I saw it was almost $15. I
don't mind paying that for a random book but it’s killing my binge. So now I'm
thinking I'll have to read this series slowly and hope I don't lose it in the
crush of the TBR and new releases.
I've
been driving myself a little insane trying to find books to read. I am really
craving an over the top alpha and whenever I go searching it seems either I've
read them all or they are ones I don't want to read for one reason or another.
So in short I'm annoying AF in my own head and can't decide on a book for
hours.
I can't even tell you how I came across this one but I thought it sounded like it would appease me. And it really did work for me. I was worried how it would go since it was set in high school but with the wolf shifter and the bully aspects it did come across as an older feeling read.
Cole
was a complete alphahole but omg he was so alpha and he absolutely nailed the
dirty talk. And once he started to be less bully and more boyfriend he nailed
that even better. Because he owned the whole growling, protective, possessive
boyfriend.
Bailey
had been through so much but she was still fighting. I loved that she was
strong enough to stand up to Cole and the rest of the school. And the way she looked
out for Rayne. I'm really looking forward to reading this series and getting
books on each of the other alphaholes and Rayne and hopefully Cole's sister.
So
I didn't write a review for the third book, this was for two reasons. 1. I had
to jump straight into the fourth and see how it was going to end. 2. Although a
lot happened in that book and we found out so much more about everyone and
everything I wouldn't be able to review it without spoilers.
And
now here we are on the last book and that conclusion had me crying some serious
tears. And then that epilogue was the perfect rainbow after the storm.
As
only Kristen Ashley can do, I was lost in the world she created and I didn't
want to be found. There was a lot going on here and at times I did lose track
of who was who and who's point of view we were currently getting. But for the
most part I was so invested I felt like I was part of it.
This
series has been amazing, and I will be doing a reread of it in the future. But
right now, I am dying to reread the fantasyland series. And I can't wait to
visit the mystics. Hopefully, our queen has books planned for all the
characters I have grown to love in this series, especially Jorie.
So, I was stupid enough to start this series at a time when I really don't have the time to binge read it. I just have a day or two between commitments and the inability to control my own impulses. Obviously, I couldn't hold off any longer to get to the second book and now I'm hating myself.
That cliff-hanger was brutal and I have at least four weeks before I can get to the next one. And I really need to know what happened at the end of this one and how it plays out in the next one.
This one kicked off straight after the first and I loved watching them all get to know each other and fall in love. But I also enjoyed watching them develop some really strong friendships with the couples. There is so much intrigue and so many characters with so many different stories and yet I am so invested in each one of them I am having no issue keeping up with them all.
I’m dying to dive into the next one as soon as I can find the time because this series is calling to me so hard and having it tie in so beautifully with the Fantasyland Series and having a few cameos of the couples I love from that book just adds so much more to the experience.
The Golden Dynasty is my all-time favourite book. I re-read it when I need a book to get over a slump or just to distract from a bad day. So, when I heard that this series was set in the same world as the Fantastical series, I have been dying to read it. I knew I couldn't listen to that long an audio book, so I waited for the e-book. But Kristen Ashley is so wordy I needed to find the time to binge all four books.
Right now, is not that time but I couldn't hold off any longer. I could feel it calling me from my kindle while I was trying to figure out what to read next. And I caved and from the first page I couldn't put it down.
I saw a few reviews that said there were a lot of different points of view and it got a little complex. I was nervous because I am terrible with names and the list of characters here is huge. But all of their personalities are so strong and individual I actually didn't struggle too much keeping them all straight.
And the story is just too intriguing to have me be anything but madly invested in each couple’s relationship. And the part they are all going to play to stop the beast. And how each of them is going to handle their new relationship with someone vastly different.
Naturally, I have already got my favourites. And they each have things that make me love them that tiny bit more. But then there is a slight drama to make me nervous or another couple does something to make me love them more and I'm off with a new favourite. I really wish I could dive straight into the next book, but sadly commitments call, however as soon as I find the time it's already loaded and ready to go.
Fate has it in for me.
She’s sent a human vet to stay in the bunkhouse. With me.
I might not have the wolf scent, but I have the hearing.
I learn she’s a virgin. I offer her two weeks.
Two weeks where I’ll show her a large animal. One she can’t resist.
Or at least one who can’t resist her.
I’ll prove she doesn’t know everything about four-legged beasts.
Especially not the fiercest ones who stalk their prey in the night.
Especially not one determined to prey on her.
Me.
Seraphina nickered, as if she found me amusing.
“Excuse me?” The crisp white blouse from the day before was replaced with a plaid button-up. Little pearl snaps drew my eye to the swell of her breasts. She wore a pretty plum shade of lipstick on her pillowy lips and mascara today.
That was new. Was it for me? I sure as fuck hoped it was. It was totally unnecessary, of course, but I wouldn’t mind it if she was thinking about me when she dressed this morning. I had to wonder if she’d taken this much care on the outside, what was she wearing beneath? Lavender lace would look gorgeous on her.
“Cowboy services,” I said. “I may or may not have overheard you were in need of them. Please tell me I was the cowboy down the hall you were contemplating screwing. Because if it was Johnny, I’ll have to throat-punch him.”
Her eyes widened the moment she caught on to what I was talking about. She flushed, but a choked laugh came out of her. “Oh God. You heard that, too? I’m seriously going to die.”
“Nah, nothing shameful about knowing what you want. I like when a woman is aware of what she needs.”
Her gaze darted around, as if she could see outside the stall. “At least Johnny didn’t hear. Where is he anyway? I haven’t seen him since I moved in.”
“I kicked him out of the bunkhouse,” I admitted, without a bit of remorse. “I’m the one in danger of dying, doll. I keep thinking about you in the shower last night. Now I find out you’re in need of my services.”
“Services?” The word came out just over a whisper.
I arched a brow. She glanced away.
“I’m here with an offer.”
The thrum of her pulse made my wolf want to howl. The way her chest heaved, I’d made her breathless. Eager. Nervous. Still, she covered it well, cocking a hip and raising her brows. “Wh-what offer?”
I wasn’t going to skirt around the topic. We only had so much time. Not only because she was going back to Colorado but because I was going to lose my shit if I didn’t have her. “Two
weeks. That’s how long you’re here, right?”
She looked suspicious, cocking her head to the side, but nodded.
“Give me those fourteen nights to pleasure you.”
It was perfect. I had no intention of marrying a human, but this arrangement had a built in deadline. It could be short-term and casual without anyone’s heart getting broken. I’d take care of her needs, just as she’d told the person on the phone she wanted. And she’d slake this lust she’d produced in me. I’d get her out of my system before I found my true mate. If I found her. Until then, why not a little fun?
Her mouth opened and closed in surprise. “Wh-what do you mean?”
A smile tugged at my lips. “Oh, I think it’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? You need your V-card punched with a—” I cleared my throat. “—hot cowboy.”
I was dying to touch her, but I waited, still not sure if she would pull back. “I’ll punch that card for you, and I promise I’ll make it good. I’ll keep punching it every night you’re here. You know—to make up for lost time.” My mouth stretched into a fierce grin. I reached for her waist and lightly settled my hand there to see if she’d accept my touch.
She did. Her gaze locked mine, the warm brown of her irises darkened with blown pupils. For a moment she didn’t breathe.
Neither did I.
“You want to… to have sex with me.”
“Yes.”
“For two weeks.”
“Yes.”
She was getting it. “A fling.”
“A fling,” I repeated.
She blinked, glanced between my eyes to assess my… sincerity? “Okay.”
I let out my breath. Okay?
She sounded unsure. Almost startled by her answer as if the words fell out of her mouth without thinking.
“Okay. Starting now.” I didn’t give her time to second-guess. I immediately tugged her close and slammed my lips down on hers.
I am a huge fan of paranormal romance. I love the whole fated mates and insta love as much as I love the growling, alpha mine. But I don't read nearly enough of it, partially because it can be a little monotonous and a little hit and miss. It's easy to veer into the cheesy when it's based on make believe or to go too over the top.
So when this series first caught my eye, literally the cover just called to me I ended up one clicking it. Which is unusual for me at the minute with the reading commitments I already have and the hundreds of books waiting on my kindle and my KU membership I normally talk myself out of buying more books. But I couldn't resist this series and I absolutely binged them. And now I jump on each new release.
I had no idea who this book was about before I started it and I didn't even glance at the blurb. And to be honest I don't really pay a lot of attention to the secondary characters unless they jump out at me so I only vaguely remember Levi. I was expecting the book to be about one of the more involved pack members.
And when they first started talking about the vet named Charlie I got all excited for a MM shifter story. Only to quickly realise that Charlie was all woman. I loved the chemistry between her and Levi. They were complete individually which made them more interesting to me. And together they were a great compliment to each other.
This series just keeps me hooked and I can't wait to see who's next and to see the pack members we've already met continue with their happily ever after.
I started this series on a whim and devoured the first three books and thought that was it. So naturally when I saw book four was out, I one clicked it. Then I read the blurb. And honestly, I was nervous. The other three were insta love/ fated mates and this one was whoops baby so I wasn't sure what to expect.
I hadn't really taken much notice of Clint in the previous books. But he was right up there with our other cowboys. And he might not have been a wolf by name but he definitely was one by nature. And with Becky's pregnancy he was super protective and possessive and I loved him.
Becky fit in well and her reactions were pretty authentic to what was going on. And since she had as much going on outside of the relationship as Clint I was really invested in her from the start. I liked her a lot. She was caring and despite being cautious she wasn't a drama queen or overreacting to things.
This book was a great addition to the series and I can't wait to see who's story we are getting next. And visiting with the cowboys again.
I started this series because this book randomly caught my attention when I saw the sign up it a while ago. And I really have enjoyed it. It's been the perfect, entertaining, light read to keep me reading.
This was the third book in the series and I had thought it was the last one being as it was about the third and final wolf brother. But at the end was info on book four, which I'm assuming is one of the other pack members we've already met.
Rob being the alpha of the pack had the most issues to overcome in regards to finding his mate. And his story was definitely more anxiety causing for me to read. Because despite the other brothers having road blocks in their relationships their road blocks felt a lot less solid. Whereas everything Rob was up against felt like at any moment it could all fall apart through no fault of their own.
I loved the twists and turns and each resolution made me happier than the one before. I only wish the nextbook was already out so I could continue the binge read I've been on for the last few days.
So as soon as I put Rough down I immediately ran off to Amazon and one clicked Wild. Then promptly shut myself away from the family for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
This book had all the yummy shifter insta love, forever mates stuff I was looking forward to. It follows on directly from the end of Audrey and Boyds story. And picks up the arrival of Boyd's brother, Colton and Audrey's sister, Marina for the wedding of Colton and Audrey.
While the book was focused soley on Marina and Colton and could be read as a standalone, I guess, it also advanced on the previous book perfectly. There was a little more relationship drama in this one. But it was all simple misunderstandings based on the speed things progressed.
I really am loving this series and obviously I am off to one click Feral.
