I got to the end of the Falling trilogy and was teased with the fact that the next Maya Hughes book was coming soon and had a tie in. But it had been so long since my last SWANK read I really had no idea what I was going into. I picked this book up so excited to dive into all the words and then real life blew up. All I wanted was to sit and get lost in the story but every time I tried, I ended up being dragged out and distracted.
So, a book I thought would take me a few days to read took me a week and I feel like I read it through a fog. Which absolutely sucks for me because it was a great story. And when I hid away and locked the bedroom door this morning for the last 20%, I wished I had been able to read it all in that kind of serenity. I felt all of the emotion and I cried like a baby while watching Sabrina and Hunter fight through their fears and get their happily ever after.
From the start both Sabrina and Hunter had me on side and I loved them both for all their issues. Hunter had so much going on in his head and he played the cranky jackh0le to perfection. Even when he was growling and snarling you could see his soft underbelly and thanks to the dual point of view, we got a good idea of why he was acting how he was acting.
Sabrina arrived at Hunter’s in need of a soft place to land and instead landed in the personal space of Hunter who wanted to be left alone. From getting to know Sabrina I saw the inevitable collision of their issues. And I felt like I spent most of the book waiting for it and when it hit, I felt it.
And now I am anxiously awaiting the next book because it’s Maddy’s book and she really has me dying to know everything about her. I am going to have to do a series reread before then but because I am sure this book deserves so much more attention than I gave it. Plus, I just know there’s some inside stories that I want to know before I go into that book.

He set his blazer down on the counter and slipped off his cuff links. “You don’t need to hop out.”
Goose bumps rose on my whole body, tightening my flesh even in the warm bath. “I don’t?”
“Only if you want to.” He stared at me, and there was a flicker in his eyes like he’d made a decision.
My stomach flipped, straight into a back handspring. “I don’t?”
The corner of his lips lifted. “Was that a question?” He rolled his sleeve from the cuff, folding the pressed white fabric higher up his arm, exposing the tanned and sinewy forearms. Veins, tendons, muscle.
“No. I just got in, but I wasn’t expecting an audience.” Had the heat kicked on? Because my skin not submerged in the water didn’t feel the slightest bit chilled. It felt closer to super-heated as his gaze swept over me.
“You’re driving me absolutely crazy.”
Standing beside the tub, towering over me, he could see my body beneath the water.
A shiver skated along my skin.
“In a good way?” My body was on high alert, vibrating in a wanton way where the water teased and taunted body parts like I wanted his fingers to.

I don't know if I'm feeling more relieved to finally be at the end of that roller coaster or miserable that my time with Bay and Dare has come to an end. I seriously hate trilogies. I feel like I have spent the last three months waiting for Maya to put my bleeding heart back in my chest. Only for her then to pull it back out, play a little football with it and tell me to wait a month to see what happens next.
So yeah I'm glad the wait is over and I can kiss the tarmac under my feet in relief. But I already feel like I'm missing some friends. Then again my family has been solidly avoiding me for the last few hours so maybe I just need a hug. Because that journey was brutal and watching both Dare and Bay be put through the wringer time and time again has me emotionally exhausted.
But omg that ended so sweetly. And despite my complaining I really am struggling with the fact that I wake up tomorrow and know their story has ended. I want more. I want it all. And I want to see the whole crew together and moving forward with their lives. Although the promise of new books with connections to these characters helps. And now I have something new to impatiently wait for.

I absolutely hate trilogies, like absolutely can't stand having to wait between the heart-breaking cliff-hanger and getting my heart put back together. So why I do this to myself is beyond me, especially when I know I have to wait a month between installments. You would think the fact I know I have zero patience would be enough for me to wait. Except when Maya Hughes writes it, I have to read it and now I'm hating myself.
So Bay and Keyton are back in the same place and after everything, I know you're dying to know what happens. Well the first thing that happened was I freaked out because who the hell is Keyton? Then I realised it was just Dare moving on from his high school nickname and I could breathe again.
Obviously, a lot happened and most of it was awesome. Then we got to that last ten percent and I could not breathe. I had spent the whole book wondering how everything was going to happen. How all the different strings were going to intercept and what the fallout would be. But I didn't see that coming. And I hated it, as much as I understood it. But it kind of wrecked me and I feel like I need a support group to deal with it.
And I really need that last book. A month wait feels like the cruellest of punishment. Especially when I know I am going to feel all of the feels. I just can't.
