THIS WILD HEART

Karla Sorensen

Release Date: February 7

Blurb:

Who forgets marrying a football player? Me, apparently. Turns out countless shots and a bad breakup lead to questionable decision making. But waking up in Vegas with a ring on my finger beside a hot, naked man is hard to ignore. I married Parker Wilder. Thanks to our quickie nuptials, I’ll get my inheritance, and he’ll get his family and their well-intentioned meddling off his back.

Forgetting the wedding was the easy part. Being married to him is a whole different story. Parker is too … everything. Chiseled by the gods good-looking. A heartbreaking kind of broody. The kind of man you know will wreck you for all others. Good thing this is all pretend. And oh, how we pretend. We pretend ourselves right into me ripping the clothes off his body.

It’s all fun and fake marriage until the day he gets a knock on the door with the surprise of a lifetime. Until the bomb goes off and we’re left to pick up the pieces. Until the pretending stops and we’re left with only one question: was any of it real?

Karla Sorensen is one of those authors I don't check the blurbs for. I just jump in and know I'm going to be happy. Although this series has had me crying in every book. Watching them all lose an awesome father and witnessing not just their own grief but also each of their siblings has been a journey.

I went into Parker's book with the shadow of his siblings’ feelings on how he had grieved his father. And also, how he had behaved while we waited for the inevitable. But obviously that was clouded by their own grief, so getting it from Parker's point of view along with his guilt made my chest ache for him.

Anya was the perfect partner for him. I was so excited when I realised who she was, I loved them together. And their chemistry was so hot. They had so much to contend with but luckily Anya was very emotionally mature and gently steered Parker through everything without any judgement or pressure.

I loved this story and despite the fact I cried a lot while reading this I put it down super happy. I can't wait to see what this amazing author is going to come up with next but I'll be there for it.

FOREVER STARTS TONIGHT

Karla Sorensen

Release Date: September 27

Blurb:

It’s no secret that I’ve been in love with Jax Cartwright for half my life. A terrible decision, really, and not just because he’s my brother’s best friend or he’s ten years older than me.

Thanks to an overprotective family, he’s ignored me for years, but still, I can’t get his grumpy a** out of my head. And in a wine-fueled, post-bad date funk, I make another terrible decision: show up at his cabin to ask why he’s never given me a chance.

The storm that got me stuck there overnight was a total fluke, but I’m no fool. While Jax is perfectly clear about not wanting a family or love or any of the happily-ever-afters I’ve dreamed of, what’s the harm in asking for just one night? The worst thing he can say is no.

He doesn’t though, and I was saying yes, yes, yes a whole lot after that.

Best. Decision. Ever.

One night is enough to feel like I can move on, and we agree to let it be a secret kept safe between us.

But you know what makes it hard to keep a one-night secret about my not-so-secret crush?

A positive pregnancy test.

Oh baby, things are about to get interesting.

Since we got that tiny tease of Poppy showing up at Jax’s at the end of the last book I've had ideas about how this was all going to play out. Then I read the blurb for this book and my ideas pivoted. So, I really wasn't ready for how completely emotional this book made me.

Obviously, we have gotten to know Poppy as the baby of the family through the previous family members' books. And we got a little about Jax as Cameron's best friend in his book. But getting them in their own story, from their own point of view, had me all up in my feels for them both.

Seriously Karla wrote both of these characters with so much depth, I literally feel like I just lived that along with them. Poppy was such an old soul with so much empathy and understanding for everyone around her. I wanted to stamp my feet and yell that she was an adult for her, but she understood where they were coming from and calmly went about showing them she was all grown up, and I loved it.

I went into this book kind of hating on Jax. Then I read the prologue and I just wanted to wrap him in a hug and kick his mum. Hard. And then we slowly saw Jax unfold and show his soft underbelly and I couldn't get enough of him. Every time he peeled back another layer and saw himself more clearly, I wanted more.

Jax and Poppy were perfect together.  I would have liked to see more of them together but I really did enjoy the journey.  Even if it did make me cry once or twice. The secondary characters were hilarious and I am hoping we get more of dipshit and Sam in the next book, whoever that may be.

Since I first picked up the Washington Wolves series I have been obsessed with Karla Sorenson’s writing. And when I started to read the Wilder family, I soon got hit with all the characters I remembered, and I was even more excited. And the first 2 books were so highly charged emotionally and had me so invested for the entire story that I was dying to get my hands on this one. And then I had to wait forever for this to be written.

So by the time I got to sit down and read this I honestly barely remember Ian. Partially because he was away for a lot of the previous books, but also because each of those books had me so focused on the main characters. Then once I started reading and realised it was a friends to lovers romance, to say my excitement level kind of lowered would be fair.

But I still read it and really enjoyed it. The writing style was beautiful, and their friendship was awesome to watch. Everything about them from their meeting as young kids was so sweet and easy and seeing them become more was a natural and believable transition.

Ian and Harlow were both so likeable and I couldn’t get enough of them. And the relationship they each had with Sage was beyond sweet. Sage was such a perfect ten-year-old girl and absolutely added so much to the story. The only thing was this was such a slow build to them being an actual couple I had a few moments when I wanted to scream at them to just kiss already. But once they did, I couldn’t put this book down.

Karla Sorensen is one of those authors you know you can trust to give you a story that you will feel. And this one absolutely made me have all the feels. I have had this one on my TBR for ages and then I saw the next one was releasing soon so I figured I had better get onto this one now.

Burke was so deep in his grief for his friends and was so determined to honour them it was impossible not to admire him. And Charlotte was so full of passion it was like watching a storm cloud and rainbow come together. They went together so beautifully and naturally. Yet they had to weather the storm and work to come through it.

The emotions were so strong in this I was dying for these guys to get their much deserved happily ever after. And as much as I enjoyed this book I have a feeling that the next one is going to be even more emotional and have me feeling everything even deeper than this one. And I'm really looking forward to it.

Ok so this book is just all the feels. I read the Best Laid Plans right before it and then I couldn't wait to get more of Liam. Except there's something to be said for going into a book knowing there's going to be heartbreak and tears.

Because obviously this book is about Liam and Zoe’s best friends passing away and them getting custody of their daughter. Now from the last book my entire knowledge of Liam is that he's gruff and growly and protective of Mira. And that's kind of my kryptonite.

Zoe on the other hand was a complete unknown and starting the book with her in the past gave me a great feel for her. Following that up with her with Mira made her a character I loved. Especially with her octogenarian book club giving her all kinds of advice.

The story was so emotional but written so perfectly that I could feel what they were feeling and understand why they each were feeling that way. And I loved that they gave each other the grace to deal with their own feelings on this massive life change they had suddenly had thrust upon them. Liam was the absolute best book hero I've read in a while and the most real.

I personally would have loved an epilogue of a little further into the future. But I always want more. I'm not sure if we are getting more of this series in the future but I certainly hope so.

Karla Sorensen

Release Date: January 24

FREE IN KINDLE UNLIMITED

There’s only one course of action when your dad wants you to marry a clammy-handed wimp to make one of his board members happy—you get yourself stuck in an elevator with a hot stranger and have the steamiest make-out session of your life. Years of etiquette lessons went out the window thanks to Cameron Wilder, who managed to unleash my hidden bad girl with naught but his talented mouth and deliciously rough hands.

Afterwards, he went back to his small-town life, and I marched home to inform my dad there would be no business-centric nuptials. As punishment, he shipped me off to Sisters, Oregon and demanded I turn a healthy profit on a not-so-healthy property.

You see where I’m going with this—the buttoned-up city girl stuck in a small town hires a local builder to help her … and he’s the hot stranger from the elevator. Turns out, I have a weakness for the broad-shouldered nice guy who’s not so nice behind closed doors. Keeping things professional gets harder the longer I’m in town, until the only lesson I have left to learn is how to keep both our hearts from getting broken.

Oh my god. I kind of hate Karla so hard right now. I spent about a quarter of this book either crying or trying not to cry. I don't know if we got a lot of Tim's story in Greer's book and I've just forgotten the emotions or if it's because time has passed or just that Cameron was closer to the situation but Jesus, it gutted me.

I kind of read the blurb and in my head, I was getting a cute little rom com with a fish out of water twist. But literally nothing from Ivy was what I expected. Her emotions were so visceral, and I felt them with her. Everything about the Wilder family is so perfect and beautiful despite the fact that they are all flawed, normal human beings going through this tragic event. And coming from a background where that's foreign, I completely understood her culture shock.

Not a single thing in this book played out like I anticipated. And I spent so much time in my feels while reading it. But it was beautiful and touching and real, and I couldn't put it down. I have so many hopes for the future siblings, and I love seeing the characters I've met through earlier books. But for today I'm going to angry wash my dishes and curse Karla's name.

I picked this up because I saw everyone talking about a new family from the beautiful Karla Sorensen and I was there for it. And I immediately loved Greer. But as I was reading it, I started wondering what was going on with some of the siblings already all loved up and their names sounded familiar. So naturally I went off to see who they were and was surprised that they were from the Wolves series, which was my earlier obsession and the reason I was so excited to get my hands on this. Because Karla not just writes awesome football books, she has these characters with such depth you wish you knew them off the pages.

As mentioned, Greer was my kinda people from the first page. There really wasn’t anything about her that I didn’t love, and she had me feeling all of the feels along with having a giggle and a cry from one minute to the next. Her love for her family and the people she cared about was beautiful and I couldn’t fault her for doing everything she could for them. Beckett was a slower build for me. He was reserved and serious, and I got where he was coming from, especially when we got his point of view. He loved just as hard, but he held himself back because he gave everyone everything.

Watching these two fall was a really fun and touching story. And the inclusion of Olive, especially the fact she was the quiet shy kid (one of whom I happen to own) was perfect. I loved the way she was always everyone's priority. The adults all acted maturely and there wasn’t a single moment I was upset by their actions. And even though Beckett took a lot longer to get there he was always so sweet and supportive and caring. I loved how he acted immediately once he realised, he was making a mistake and not just owned it but set out to rectify it.

The whole book was just really easy to read and even when I was crying, I was happy and loving the story and characters. I really hope that we are getting all the other sibling’s stories in the near future.
