I am seriously loving this series. I read the first two books back to back then had to wait for this one and I thought I would have forgotten a lot of the characters and I wasn’t super excited to start reading this once I got it but I sat down knowing I had been hanging out for it and within pages I was lost to the perfect writing.

Not the perfect characters because of all the characters in this series these two were by far the most broken and we had sort of explored that in the previous books but not being inside their heads and living through their drama I had no idea the full extent of it all.

Toni was such a hard arse I wasn’t sure if she could soften enough for me to get behind her as a leading lady. Even knowing all that she had been through I just couldn’t see how anyone could get close enough to break through that hard shell and get her to believe she was worthy of their love and affection.

I was so besotted with Lucky from the start he carries such a weight of his own but he never felt sad for himself or acted like a miserable jerk. But sadly since this book was told from Toni’s point of view I didn’t feel like I got enough of Lucky although what I did get was awesome. And I loved these two as a couple especially once Toni let down her guard enough to commit to them.

This was a great addition to the series and I loved catching up with the whole team. Hopefully Thibault gets his own story soon although I don’t know who could be strong enough and worthy of joining this tight knit group.

Check out my reviews for the first two here

After reading the first book in this series I just had to jump straight into this one thinking I was going to get a continuance of the humour I was enjoying so much along with getting more of the cool characters I had already met. Add in how much I love single parent romances and I was so there as soon as I put the first one down.

But I really didn’t get what I was expecting. This book had a lot less of the humour and a lot more emotion. I even had a few instances of leaking eyes while watching Jenny struggle through issues of motherhood with no one to depend on.

I only knew a little bit about Jenny from the first book but what I knew was enough for me to love her and I really wanted her to meet an amazing man who would sweep her off her feet and help her out with her little monsters.

And knowing the men of Bourbon Street Boys are not just unbelievably sexy they all are stand up men who lead the race in chivalry. They know what’s important and they stand up for it. And Dex was the perfect man for Jenny. Not just because he is a single father but also because he knew what he wanted and he had his own vulnerabilities that made him sensitive to her insecurities.

I absolutely adored all the interaction with the kids and I loved the continuation of the investigations even though it doesn’t matter if you haven’t read the first one or can remember what they were investigating it was a nice addition after just having finished the first one.

If you are looking for a feel good series with lots of feels, laughs and action this is a great one.

So this turned up in my feeds a while ago and I added it to my TBR list as it was getting some solid star ratings and the blurb sounded interesting but sadly it slowly slipped down the pile and got over looked. Until I saw the blurb for the second one and figured I had to read it. So I immediately one clicked this and started it this morning.

I thought I knew was I was in for. I figured it was going to be an action packed suspense novel that was all about the shooting and trying to figure out who the bad guy was and stop him from trying to kill the heroine. So when I read the first page and started pissing myself laughing I thought maybe I had opened the wrong book. But no.

And from that first chapter I was so hooked. I couldn’t stop laughing long enough to try put it down and then I realised I was almost finished and shit started to get real so of course I had to finish the book to see how it was all going to play out.

While there was a lot of humour there was still quite a lot of action and adventure. The mix of the two was so seamless I just loved it. The supporting characters were great and added so much to the story. I loved May’s sister so much and the interaction between the two was perfect.

But May was one of the quirkiest heroines I have had the pleasure of reading the inner monologue for in ages. Some of the shit she thought made me so glad it isn’t just me thinking those inappropriate things at inopportune moments. I love her being so nonplussed about Felix peeing in her handbag and Sahara nearly killing her with farts. She just felt so genuine in her craziness I couldn’t help but love her.

Ozzie was ok, maybe if we got his POV I might have been more invested in him but not hearing what he is thinking he really felt more like a sexy secondary character. I never really got that over whelming sense of lust I like in my book boyfriends. Which probably isn’t really fair to him since he was all around awesome and went above and beyond to look out for May I just never really felt he was as invested. But maybe that’s just me, I do love my men to be over the top possessive.

I kinda felt the end was a little rushed, there really wasn’t a whole heap of coupleness to the story but the humour and sassiness of May made up for it and now I can’t wait to jump into Jenny’s story and read more about her tribe of kidlets.
