The third in the hilarious yet sizzling hot Hudson Valley series from New York Time and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton.

Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she’s never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she’s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She’s especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can’t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns….

Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He’s determined to save his family’s legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way—by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There’s no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara’s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can’t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

It’s sticky, it’s messy, it’s sweet, it’s Buns.

Ok I am probably not going to be popular here but I have to be honest and say I was expecting something a lot different than what I got in this book and I walked away a little disappointed. Nuts was on my TBR mountain forever and everyone raved about it and I finally read it because I NEEDED to read Cream of The Crop from that blurb and I loved Nuts.

And I loved Natalie and I was in some major lust with Oscar. There is something about the strong silent type, especially when he looks like Khal Drogo (just me?) so as soon as this one was released I dove in.

I don’t know if I was expecting too much or if maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for this book and it might have worked for me another day but I do know I didn’t love it like I expected too and I walked away disappointed. But maybe my hopes were just set too high between my own expectations and the awesome reviews I saw for it.

Ok so Natalie was all that I expected and I loved her snarkiness and self-confidence. I loved that she was so comfortable being her and she completely owned her size and knew that she was beautiful and sexy and smart.

But Oscar just didn’t do it for me. I mean yeah he was sexy as hell and I can see why Natalie got tongue tied around him. And he did go after Natalie and there was no initial hesitance on his behalf but once things got under way I just felt like it was all Natalie and I like a man who goes balls to the wall for his woman. He really didn’t give anything or make any sacrifices for Natalie or their relationship and he just pissed me off more than I could forgive.

He did somewhat make up for it with his love and vocal support of Natalie’s great ass and his epilogue was sweet it just was a little too little too late for me. With that said I can’t wait for the next one and I seem to be in the minority so maybe it was just me.

There is something to be said for picking up a book you know you’re going to love. Maybe it’s just me but I always put them off thinking I will “save” them for when I need a good book. Then I see that the next book is about to be released and I have a mini panic attack because I have to have it now but I can’t read them out of order so I dove in and of course I loved it.

Roxie has grown up in a small town with a hippy mother and she couldn’t wait to leave either in the dust. So when her mum calls asking her to come home and help out she is counting down the days before she can blow out of there again and return to her planned life where she can leave behind everything she thought she hated about her childhood.

That is of course until she trips on Leo’s nuts and lands face first in his lap. And I could feel the sparks through the pages and smell the pheromones pouring off them. The chemistry was instant so they decide to enjoy their summer joined at the pelvis.

But of course best laid plans and all of that.

Roxie was so sassy and everything about her was awesome. I had so many laugh out loud moments reading this book that I literally spent a lazy Saturday with my kindle attached to my hands.

Leo was so sweet and charming and I loved how he just rolled with all the crazy. And let’s be honest his country hipster description didn’t hurt. Especially when you throw in a sprinkle of possessiveness and the amazing sexual tension followed with smoking hot sex scenes that Alice Clayton has perfected.

Not many authors can take me from full on giggles to seat squirming as quickly as Alice Clayton. Add in the fact her characters are so real and her books are so well written I feel like I am watching it play out in high definition and I absolutely can’t wait for the next book in the series.
