This series hits me in the feels every single time. And every time I forget that before I start reading it. With my goldfish brain I just go into it all smiles thinking about how much I love this series and how awesome the author is and then bam crying like a baby while we relive that night from a whole new perspective.
And this time we got it from both sides as they relive the before of their relationship and how it was torn apart. Not to mention the aftermath and the toll it took on both of them. So Everleigh left to escape and we didn't know much about her. Except that she came back to help her mum at the end of the last book.
Brock however has been sprinkled through all of the books and he did not have a very positive light shown on him. It seemed everyone either resented him or pitied him and I couldn't blame them since they only saw the consequences of his actions. And since he wasn't sharing, no one knew why he had acted like he did.
But obviously we got to see his side since this is in dual point of view and even though I think he was an idiot my heart broke for him. Especially when you factor in how young they were at the time. Also, luckily for me (because I love it) he owned his mistakes and he gave great grovel.
An added bonus was holy smokes, the chemistry between these two was beyond. Like thank God I read this book alone in bed or I might have embarrassed myself. But that aside it was also sweet and I couldn't put it down. The teaser for the next one has made my day because for some reason I thought this was the last of the series and I'm so glad to be sticking around.
