Bella
Matthews needs to write faster. It's so exciting to stumble on an author early
in their writing career until you realise it just means a whole heap of
waiting. Especially when their words are like your own personal addiction and
their characters, and their families feel like friends you are dying to catch
up with.
I kind of
started reading all of these books after coming across the first book in the
second generation. So, I went back and read the Kings of Kroydon Hills series
first not realising that there were more books of the original family members. Obviously,
I read them all in a mad binge and loved every word. Now we are getting more of
the second and in some cases third generation and they are even more
interconnected than the first.
And I am
here for every second of it. I'll be honest I don't even try to keep up with
the family trees until I'm reading the book and a parent pops in or a cousin
and it all comes rushing back. It's like a big bowl of happiness. And honestly
if I paid attention to the secondary characters as much as they deserve, I
would know who's next. With the exception that we get thrown a surprise every
few books that makes me forget everything but the couple I'm so completely
wrapped up in.
In the case
of Caitlin and Callen I was so invested. There was so much family drama from
all sides and their own drama I couldn't put the book down. I wanted to be so
mad at Callen and yet I completely understood. No matter what Sam told me to do
I think I'd smile, nod and get right to it, so I couldn't hold a grudge that he
complied with the Mafia king. Caitlin held a grudge perfectly and I respected
her so much for it. But with the chemistry between them and having experience
with pregnancy hormones I can't blame her for climbing him like a tree.
Towards the
end I was expecting assassination attempts and explosions. Instead, we got
drama and stress and heartbreak before being put back together for a beautiful
epilogue. And I didn't miss the fireworks I was expecting because I was too
busy loving how everything was wrapped up. But now we have to wait again. Leo
better make it worth our while.
