I grabbed this book on KU forever ago when I had my big girl panties on and then wussed out. But since I'd also added the Audible whisper sync it jumped out at me today when I was looking for something to make adulting less painful.

 

And man was that a terrible choice. Because while I expected a somewhat angsty enemies to lovers book I did not expect to be crying like a baby for half of the book. So my adulting was a lot more half-arsed than intended and I spent the last few hours hiding in my room with my headphones.

 

Stone was a really hard read. I thought the dual point of view would have more Stone so I didn't really feel like I had a good grasp on where he was at. He had moments of possessiveness where I was sure he was completely invested. Then he would be walking away or just didn't seem to care and I would be wanting his point of view so badly. When we finally got it I was so excited and it was everything.

 

Dusty just broke my heart. She just could not catch a break and I completely understood her attempts at protecting herself. Her whole history was one thing after another but it did have moments of light. And watching Stone trying to bring that light to her, with her so firmly holding him at arms length made me like him more.

 

Those epilogues were great and I am so glad I picked this up today even if I did end up with red eyes.

 

 

 

This is one of those KU books that I picked up after seeing a teaser in a different authors newsletter. I thought it would be a short, hot read before bed and instead got sucked into a reasonable length story that was absolutely hot AF.

 

I don't really read a lot of bodyguard or celebrity romance except for those super short smutty ones 😉 So I went in sort of expecting that. And I'm absolutely not complaining because this book was a fun read. The characters were likeable and there was enough drama to make this hard to put down.

 

The book was seriously hot. There was almost too much sex, almost. And there was just a touch of praise kink along with a massive amount of dirty talk. An overprotective hero and a smart, strong heroine. But mainly I got a great introduction to a new author for my future stalking.

I don't know how I missed this book sneak out. I am loving the Heston U series and had no idea this was part of it until I read the blurb and was hit in the face with it. That said it reads as a complete stand-alone, especially since it's a slightly older couple than the college aged ones in the rest of the series but we do get some cameos and the setting of course.

 

Anywho, this book popped up and I grabbed it on KU and dove in. But what I neglected to factor in is that it's school holidays right before Christmas. So, although I want to just hide and read the Mum calls are even more insistent than normal and so is the list of to-do items. So, it felt like it took forever to read this, which kind of made it feel like it dragged. And I really wanted to skim it, but I couldn't because I really needed to know what was going to happen next.

 

Both Eve and Cole were awesome characters that I really loved and could relate to. I was blown away by how hot this was. And the scenes between them made me blush and drag my husband off to hide from the kids a time or two. However, the actual emotional connection and the amount of care Cole took of Eve was what really made this book awesome.

 

I can't wait to get back to Heston U and hopefully catch little cameos from these guys and the couples we have already met.
