I
am such an idiot for starting this series that the beautiful Devney Perry is
still writing rather than one of the other series she has already finished
because I have absolutely no chill. I can't handle waiting between books
because my goldfish memory promptly forgets all the cute little inside
knowledge I've acquired from the previous books. And although this works as a
standalone, I want to be in the know damn it.
That
said I did remember bits and pieces of the previous characters as they floated
in and out of this book so that was enough to pull me off the ledge. And this
book was so much about Jasper and Eloise that at times I forgot about everyone
else. And I was so unable to put it down I grabbed the whisper sync so I could
keep listening while I adulted.
I
adored this book and Eloise was perfect. Sometimes too perfect as she tried to
prove herself to her parents. But I loved her. Literally everything about her
was great, she didn't play games, she said what she was thinking, and she
genuinely cared about everyone around her. Jasper, I had moments with. And
honestly, I think it's just things my brain decided to focus on that caused me
issue.
Now
I'm going to be vague so as not to spoil anything here, but I need to vent.
Firstly, he expected Eloise to know how he felt when he really didn't give her a
lot to go on. And when there was an incident in regard to a ring, he didn't use
his words. And for me that was a big issue that I felt needed to be resolved
and just wasn't. Which is sticking in my brain like a splinter. "What
about the ring, Devney?" Then there were his inner thoughts on why he was
an arse at family dinner. Yeah, he was using it as an excuse, but it was still a
genuine issue he should have addressed. And I kept waiting and then, nothing.
I
know that those things were me issues more than story issues, but I can't stand
it when people expect you to know what they are feeling or thinking. Use your
big boy words. Luckily Jasper did get better at communication. But honestly it
was all Eloise having the patience of a saint and the stubbornness of a bull.
and the ability to use both to perfection.
Now
we have to wait forever for crimson river. Which sounds freaking amazing and I
can't wait. Gah, I hate waiting.
So,
I read this series well out of order and honestly it didn’t really matter. Each
of them works perfectly as standalones and the previous couples in them aren’t
really major parts of each story so it was just a fact that each one kind of
set up the next one’s introduction. And I honestly don’t know why I didn’t read
this one when it was released. I grabbed the next one when it was popping up
everywhere and didn’t realise it was part of this series before I was part way
in and then the mentions of Eli had me wanting to go back and read this, so I
did.
But
I actually struggled a little bit with reading this. I think mainly due to the
timing of me reading it. It’s back to school here for the tribe and we have 2-year-old twins staying with us and I am very distracted, and I just couldn’t get
lost in the book. I was waiting for the big twist at the end for most of the
book and the first 80% of the book felt like it kind of dragged out. The twist
was predictable, but I was dying to know how it was going to play out. I just
wanted it to happen sooner.
Eli
and Molly were both really likeable characters, and I liked the development of
their relationship. It felt like a real meet cute and then just a really
natural progression. I also enjoyed the way they dealt with things like adults.
Even when they didn’t talk about it immediately it wasn’t because they were
being petty or avoiding it, it was just the way they were dealing.
I
really wish that I had read this book at a different time so I could have given
it more of my attention and I probably would have enjoyed it more. But for now,
it is what it is.
To
give you an idea of how truly special my brain is, I've been in a book slump
for the past few days. I had time to read, all I wanted was to chill out and
read but I couldn't find a book to read. Despite the thousand plus books
already on my kindle and the two thousand books on my TBR I COULDN'T FIND A
BOOK TO READ?
And
the reason for that was I vaguely remembered a sentence from a blurb and my
brain decided that was the book. But I couldn't remember what it was called,
what it looked like or where I had seen it. So, I spent 3 full days stalking
through Goodreads and today after I gave up and decided to just read a college
sports romance, I found the freaking blurb.
And
now my brain is tapping its foot all "you're welcome" because yeah,
the book was exactly what I like reading. It had the whole fake romance, group
of friends, college sports thing down. Yeah, it had moments where I wanted to
slap both Waylon and Mac for their lack of communication. And Waylon was a bit
of a clueless idiot about some things but overall, I really enjoyed it.
I
couldn't put this down once I picked it up and I am going to stalk this author
to see if any of the other characters have their own books. even though I liked
it. I don't know that it was worth the 3 days of insanity when I couldn't read
anything else.
A steamy, grumpy sunshine sports romance featuring a woman down on her luck, a star basketball player with a filthy mouth, and a connection neither of them can deny.
Game Changer by Piper Lawson is now live!
After being dumped and losing my job the same week, the last thing my broken heart needs is a rebound.
I'm escaping across the country to help my perfect sister plan her dream wedding, and to prove to both of us everything is under control.
But a combination of tequila and turbulence on the flight there lead to word-vomiting all my troubles to the huge and handsome stranger in the first-class seat next to mine.
Only his whispered dirty diversions keep me sane until landing.
Despite the spark of attraction, we go our separate ways.
Or so I thought.
Turns out the tall, muscular, tattooed tower of a man from the plane is the star player on my future brother-in-law's pro basketball team.
Clay is the last person I should gravitate toward. They're called "players" for a reason.
Grumpy and cynical, he carries a weight on his shoulders I can't possibly fathom.
He's also the only one who knows my secrets and gets my heart racing.
The more we're thrust together, the stronger the chemistry between us becomes.
Hooking up with the all-star athlete isn't the way to get my life on track...but it could just be the game changer we've both been searching for.

This
is the first book by this author I've read and I kind of have mixed feelings. I
liked the story but the writing felt kind of off. It was like someone was
telling me the story as an onlooker and it caused a disconnect between me and
the characters.
I
was told and not shown and it kept dragging me from the story. Also I think the
emotions between the characters could have been shown more. I understand that
the author was going for a confused, denial kind of vibe but some affection or
a more detailed insight into some tender moments would have been nice.
The
story was a short introductory novella but a few more pages of them actually
together might have been nice just to close it out. But all of that said I
liked the story and the characters had a lot of potential. I'm adding the next
book to my TBR and hopefully being a full length book I'll get everything I
want from it.

From
the moment I read the blurb for this book I had to get my grabby hands on it.
Cults intrigue the crap out of me, and I love the idea of a character saving
themselves from the situation. Especially when it's written by an amazing
author like Melissa Foster. She has such a strong writing style, and her
characters always have such depth.
I
read the prequel to this and fell madly in love with Sully. She was such a
strong willed and fiercely independent person, and I felt her bravery. And then
watching her grow and become more independent and self-reliant only made me
admire her more.
The
meeting between Sully and Cowboy was such a sweet beginning to a really
beautiful love story. Watching them negotiate a relationship with everything
Sully was going through had me feeling like I was living it with them. There
was so much that I enjoyed about this book, and I love how they fit into
previous books in the collection without having to read them.
There
are so many awesome secondary characters I can't wait to see get their stories
told. And so many books that intersect with this one I can’t wait to go
grab.
Oh
my god I hate it here. I have had this book on my TBR forever, but it sounded
super emotional and I kept putting it off. Because although I love books full
of emotion, I never want to read them. Then I find myself in the middle of them
loving every word. But when I read the blurb for the next book and had to have it,
I knew I had to read this one first so I grabbed the audio while I picked up
the toy room.
Billie
and Dare had a super emotional story, and I couldn't put it down. I also didn't
want to be in the middle of all those feels. Because Melissa wrote this book in
such a way that I felt like I was living it along with them. And I admit I
wished I hadn't started this book while I lay in bed unable to put it down with
tears running down my face.
As
with all these books we get a massive amount of secondary characters who are
awesome and will be woven through the rest of the series. It's a perfect
stand-alone but there were mentions of former book characters to tickle my
memory. And a solid introduction to the upcoming books characters that has my
dying to dive into it.
A friends-to-lovers professional football romance that has spice, plot, and feeling.

Meet Ella Haines
A typical New Englander, Ella was born and raised in New Hampshire, and much to her husband’s chagrin hopes to continue to live and die, there.
Growing up, she had a hard time falling asleep at night, so to pass the time, she would invent stories. That is, she would invent stories if she wasn’t in the middle of her own reading adventure. (You know… “Just one more chapter”….. and before you know it, it’s 4 am, and you’re still only 75% of the way done with the book).
As she progressed into adulthood, those stories moved out of the PG realm and into PG-13 land. As an adult, you can imagine what the rating is now…
With two little sons, their life is always busy but (usually) full of laughter. Writing was a passion that Ella picked up after her sons were born in the quiet times during naps and after they went down for the night. As such, production of content is slower than she would like, but as she preaches to the kiddos, slow and steady wins the race!
