SYNOPSIS
Whitney Carroll is back home in Gatlinburg, Tennessee after divorcing her low-down, cheating husband. First thing on the to-do list: Get a job. Second thing: Just say no to men. Third thing: Don’t fall for the boss. One out of three’s not too bad, right?

For Sam Ellis, his to-do list is always work, work, work, trying to keep his family’s legacy alive. Now, out of concern, his siblings bet he can’t keep a girl happy for thirty days, and if he loses he’s out as CEO. No problem, he can fake a relationship. And he knows just who to ask…his new man-vegan assistant.

Yet Whitney’s sexy boss—secret singer and Skee-Ball champion—is definitely NOT boring, and their connection is undeniable. But when a disaster strikes at work, Sam will have to decide if he’s willing to trade in his job for his heart.

“We need to talk.”
He turned around and crossed his arms. “Yes, we do. We need to call off this bet.”
She froze, her limbs growing heavy as her breath whooshed out of her. “What? No.”
Crap. Hadn’t that been exactly what she was going to suggest? That it was too confusing, for her at least, and they both needed to be focusing on the job.
“Whitney, clearly you are uncomfortable, and I do not want that.” His voice softened. “I would never want that.”
“You’re uncomfortable, too!” She shot back, feeling like a three year old whining that her brother got to do something.
“I—”
She silenced him with her finger on his lips. “Yes, I may be obtuse to some things when it comes to males. I mean my ex-husband had been having affairs for more than six months before I even remotely caught wind of it, but I know the night in the woods made you uncomfortable and then by the creek…”
“I wasn’t uncomfortable.” He spoke against her finger and she snatched it back, tingles traveling up her arm and centering in her lower stomach.
He motioned her through the doorway into the conference room. She went in and he shut the door, giving them a little more privacy.
“So what do we do?” Sam asked.
“We keep going. I keep doing a hell of a job for you and we keep getting to know each other.”
“But no more physical contact?”
“Is that what you want?”
Please say no. Or yes. Or…dammit even she didn’t know how to feel, how could she expect him to?
Sam stared at the table, the wall, the carpet. Anywhere but at her. Maybe she’d been right. This whole thing was one-sided, on her end.
Finally he met her gaze and the look in his eyes nearly brought her to her knees.
“I thought the kiss was damn near perfect.”
Her cheeks heated and she ducked her head. “Damn near?”
He laughed and moved closer. “It was too short.”
“Oh.”
He stepped closer again and reached for her. She went willingly.
“No one is looking.”
Sam smiled. “I don’t care.”
A knock on the glass had them breaking apart like two magnets with the same polarity. Whitney glanced at the window to find Caleb and Becky grinning like cats with tuna fish.
