Was there ever any doubt this book would be awesome?
After the perfection of The Hooker and the Hermit and the blurb I was so
excited to dive right into this one and now I am hanging out for the next one
after that too brief teaser.
I have to admit that even though I skimmed the
blurb and loved the first book it took me a while to remember them both from it
and when it all clicked (let’s be honest it was more like when they led me by
the hand) who they were and how they were kinda connected I was so incredibly
excited to see how it was all going to play out I just couldn’t put the book
down.
And damn did it just keep getting better and
better as I got further into the book. I love that even though these are sports
romance and there is a lot of sexy sportsmen in them as well as several sports
references I, who do not like rugby, was able to fall in love with it and not
once be taken away from the romance and the characters.
The combination of these two authors is an
absolute recipe for gold. And their characters are perfect in all their flaws
and they are so realistically written I feel like I could catch up with them
for coffee and discuss the weather.
I adored Lucy and her approach to everything
was so genuine I couldn’t fault her even when she acted like an idiot or didn’t
act how I wanted her to act.
But of course the star of the show was Sean and
despite the fact he was a douche man whore I expected to hate and maybe warm up
to by the end he had me hooked from the beginning. I loved that we saw his
faults in blaring clarity and why he was how he was but he didn’t make excuses
or pretend he wasn’t an arsehole he just went with it. And even though he was
mortified by his issue he was able to ask for help.
The fact that once he knew how he felt there
was no doubt in his mind of what he wanted and he never once wavered or did
anything to cast any doubt on it. And despite his douchy reputation he was such
a perfect book boyfriend I just want him for myself.
I honestly can’t recommend this series any
harder. It has loads of laugh out loud moments, steamy sex scenes, sexual tension
and an incredibly well written plot and characters it would be hard to find a
better way to spend an arvo.
